Has nothing to do with legalities. But for their own advantages and interest and they realize that! Plus they will not settle down here permanently once they save, invest and retire. I personally, in fact have also witnessed, some that do stay and contribute to society. Even hiring their natives from Mexico (how's that for assimilation?) The buttom line is that with reasonable amounts of savings. It is much better to live in Mexico by far than here in the U.S.
So really one should not worry too dam much. And besides they enjoy the simple life also working on their own tire shops,construction, agriculturalist, custodial work for now!
And really I seriously prefer having assets then liabilities
In other words whatever they end up doing will not affect the U.S. AS IF THEY WOULD HAVE HAD TO BE TURNED IN,RICH, AND SELFISHLY ignorant. And last but not least if any of them were to get out of hand within a community that has Mexican Americans (mainly) which usually is their ideal focus. Believe that Mex.-Americans will intervene if need be!
The alternative would be to deport all of them at the government's expense, which would be an even larger undertaking, and probably much more expensive. They would have to be transported across the border, which would require vehicles, drivers, fuel, and possibly even armed guards. The amnesty provision only gives them the opportunity to avoid all of that by coming forward and becoming legal. If they don't, they will be found and arrested and/or deported. That seems reasonable to me, or at least the lesser of two evils. They'll have to pay a fee to be naturalized, so it won't be all at the government's expense. There's no easy way out with such a large number of people involved.
Anyone that depends on Ted Kennedy for leadership is doomed.
