Should United States government policy favor certain kinds of immigrants?

Should United States government policy favor certain kinds of immigrants?

o Should [citizenship] preference be given to the neediest applicants? The most talented? The most oppressed? The richest?

o Should applications from certain countries be given priority?

Answer:
i think we need to sensibly look at immigration... it does need a lot of work. i'm not certain that countries should be set competing against each other, but we're seeing what happens when you don't allow in enough mexicans. if our immigration policy were more realistic perhaps it would seem less normal to just circumvent them, but i've heard that people can wait years to come legally. i'm not really surprised that many people choose to break the law instead.
How about the LEGAL kind.

Those with an education would be nice too
The U.S. should do what Australia does.

You cannot get into their country (much less be a citizen), unless you have a marketable skill that they (as a Country) need.

You must also have a significant amount of $ so you will not be a financial burden on their society.

hmmmm...those bloomin' Aussies are pretty darn smart!
It would be wise to only bring in those who would be an asset to the United States.
Do not bring in those who 'hate' the country and have nothing to contribute other than being a financial burden.
I personally like the policy's of Canada. They only want professional that are needed by that profession. And that doesn't mean that they can bring in 20 or more family members with them. This nation can only support so many poor under educated people. We already have more than enough poor people that require tax payer funded entitlements.Bringing in more poor
gives a false reading on the economic chart.Because the new poor are much poorer than the present poor ,it looks as if the number of poor has decreased. When in reality it is simply a case of one group of poor people being a little better off than another group of poor people. They are BOTH poor .
No I don't think the "neediest" should even be considered. The brightest, the professionals in a profession where workers are needed yes ,of course. No priority for any country's..
The ones we need most who can pay their way and not impact our schools as much.

Our schools are being ruined for our own children. Charity begins at home.
