Answer:
First of all, thank you for serving our country.

I have some links here that might be of assistance. I'm from the Chicago area as well - we have been invaded by illegals in this area - and many of the factory jobs that used to support people in this area are filled by illegals or deported to other countries. You might need to step out of your comfort zone (familiarity) where jobs are concerned - try places like UPS or the US Post office. Go to your colleges in the area and see what jobs are being posted on their boards. It's a start.

My husband and I were out of work with no health benefits for over 4 years after being laid off from jobs that were outsourced. We both just found jobs a year ago - but now we are living from paycheck to paycheck while trying to pay back all of the debts we owe credit card companies for healthcare and everyday needs plus the back taxes that we could not afford to pay at the time. One day at a time.

We both took contract positions that turned into full time jobs. Don't be afraid to start that way. If a company feels that you're an asset, they will hire you rapidly. Don't concern yourself with getting the top pay either - your wage will increase rapidly once they see your skills.

Most importantly, don't tell them about your wife's health condition because then they will look at you as a liability on their health care and cost them more money if they hire you. Yes, all employers discriminate. Just go to an interview eager to start today and ask them how soon you can start at the interview.

Scrutinize the reason that you're not being hired if they turn you down. If the company is listing a job in the paper, sometimes it is to meet the requirements of the company as required by the government that they are searching for US citizens first before they hire "other" more qualified people - in reality, they are meeting interview quotas to hire illegals. They find excuses as to why you are not qualified. If you find this to be the case, don't hesitate to write to every newspaper in the area about their discrimination - make sure that they don't use your name so that employers aren't afraid of you. Call INS and ICE and ask them for help. Our country is going to need a lot of skilled people to eliminate illegals.

I hope these links will help you.
God bless you and your wife. I will pray that you find a job quickly and for a full and speedy recovery for your wife. I wish you both success and happiness.
I understand...I know many people who have lost their jobs to illegal aliens!
Did you try looking in your local newspapers? How about online? Maybe you find something you're qualified in in another area. Have you thought about moving? Some companies will pay to move a new employee.

I wish you the best!
Nothing? I find that very hard to believe. Have you checked out monster.com? I know they have jobs listed. Maybe you are being too picky. Maybe you need to expand your search. I think the answer to your problem is within yourself.
I'm so sorry!! You deserve so much more. Thank you for serving our country and i hope your wife is better soon. I hope you find a job soon.
I am so sorry that you are having a hard time! God Bless you for your willingness to do what you do for this country who does NOT appreciate anything!
I will be praying that God will help you find employment very soon and I will be praying for your wife's illness as well.
Have you considered moving if you could find employment in another area? I don't know what type of job you are searching for but that may help to look outside the area you are currently in. I wish I owned a company you would have a job if I did! I'm sorry you are going thru this! God Bless!!
Its hard out here for all of us, veterans as well as those of us who have not served in the war. I agree that all Vets (honorably discharged) should have a leading edge on health care, health insurance and on jobs and education. Have you checked with the Unemployment office in your area, they usually are set up to take care of the Vets. Also, you can check with other resources and agencies that hire temporary employees, such as Norrell Staffing, Allied Services, DunHill Staffing, Kelly Services, and the such - sometimes you have to take the back door in order to get into the front door. These agencies usually pave the way to getting in a permanent position. Also check with your Veteran Agency they should have some networking tools that you can use and some benefits for you and your family.
I don't think that illegal aliens are your problem. I currently work as a career counselor and I can tell you that there are many things that could be going wrong with your job search. Start from the basics..What are your skills?...what can you do well and have experience doing? ...Then attack the resume....make sure your skills match what you are trying to say through your resume.make sure they are listed...then ask yourself....if I was the employer and hiring for this job what would I want in an employee...then make a list....then match that list to the list of skills you have...THEY SHOULD NOT BE THE SAME!..obviously you are not going to know everything about the job so just learn that you do have SOME skills that they ARE looking for...then when you go in for an interview you can highlight those particular skills..This is not a magic formula but unfortunately it is all I can give through the computer....good luck!
I feel for you. I know in Vegas most casino jobs nowdays are called,"extrs board." Which means they only have to give you 32 hours per week and not have to offer you health insurance. I reality, they ask you to work 6 days a week but still manage to get around the insurance issue. It is nor fair the was big business is treating the American workers. Good luck to you.
Ask Dick Cheney. He can give you a job paid over $100,000 a year in Iraq, no joke.
Ill is one, if not the, worst state to aid vetrans after they have served this country. Unless you're illegal here...forget it. This state is an embarrassment to this country. Welcome illegals and sanctuary cities..forget about the citizens.
Americans didn't lose jobs to illegal aliens.

In fact. illegal aliens HELP KEEP JOBS IN AMERICA because without the cheap labor the companies would outsource or relocate to China or India.

Yes, you helped serve your country, but you don't realize that you are just a puppet and disposable to them.

You got played. You can thank the Republicans you voted for for that.

I think ur looking for all teh wrong answers on here buddy! I commend u for defending this country and thank u for ur services! Now, what r you qualified in, what kind of pay are u looking for, location? I know a couple of staffing agencies u can start off in, try Barton Staffing in Melrose park, IL or Strategic Solutions in Des Plaines-I believe. You may need to open ur horizons a little and keep on trying, there has got to b a job for u out there. I also live in IL, and i believe staffing agencies are the best to start off with. Good luck & hope ur wife well!!
You can thank your illustrious members of the U.S. Senate and the myriad of Visa's that they have created for foreign (slave laborers) workers.

True or false? An employer must hire a worker that hold a Visa before a U.S. born citizen?
I dont know what to tell you buddy. Thank you for your service, by the way. do you have any marketable skills? I have some friends who served. when they came back, the employment office told them that all they were qualified to do was law enforcement or security. sucks, i know, and i hate it for you. have you thought about re-uping?
