If you are not a citizen and you get marrried, do you automatically become a us citizen?
Answer:
Absolutely not...there is a lot of paperwork to do...and a lot of proofs have to be given....
If she is here legally now , then yes. If shes here illegally then its more complicated
I think I will,because I am a foreigner,and I want to go to American whatever I cost
No, a lot of paperwork needs to be done, and it might take a while.
If a non-citizen marries a US citizen, they do not automatically become a citizen. They would still have to apply for citizenship and go thru the process. If the person is not here legally, it is a little harder.
It used to be that a person who was not here legally could marry a US citizen and then apply for a "green card" . I believe that law has changed.
You should contact someone who knows immigration law --many lawyers specialize in that.
No, the immigration process must still be completed, although being married to a U.S. citizen offers another avenue.
However, entering into a marriage of convenience for the purpose of obtaining U.S. citizenship is a serious crime that subjects both parties to legal prosecution.
I think you have to stay married for 3 years. There are some conditions, so people don't abuse the system by just doing a quick marry-get citizenship-get divorced.
She needs to be petitioned to stay in america with I-130 and I485 forms.
Yes
they do not automatically become citizens. My husband is in the same situation and still has to appy for citizenship.
No, it's a beginning but the process is still long and complicated.
Personally, I think it's a good idea since there are so many
marriages of convenience, and these are illegal....
no, she has to apply. On the other hand, if she has a child that child becomes an automatic citizen at birth (go figure).
I understand why people want to live in this Country...
BUT DO IT LEGAL........
I just don't understand why people break the Law....
This Country is going in the toilet because of people like her....
if I am wrong and she has done it correctly....god bless
No, citizenship acquired by simply marrying a foreigner is something quite rare in the world today. Whoever the alien is, they will have to apply for citizenship just like any other person.
if her future husband s an american citizen yes she can get a green card but not become a citizen she has to wait 3 years actually is 2 1/2 but to be reazonable wil be 3 years when she cam apply for citizenship just if she is marry to a citizen here in the US...
