What is the first stage in applying for a visa, so that I can live in America?
Answer:
use email then?
Go to the yank Embassy and get advice and the papers required, where do you live now?
go to uscis.gov it spells out the procedures you need to follow, and has the forms.
go to this website
http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis...
you will find all the information and access to forms that you will need.
It depends on where you are coming from and who will be sponsoring you. A sponsor (either a family member or an employer) must fill out several forms and fees must be paid to Immigration. For more information about requirements, forms and fees check out this website: www.uscis.gov.
I would keep surfing the embassy site because there should be a link to contact information. If you really can't find it then go to the embassy in person and they'll get you pointed in the right direction. If I knew where you were I could try to find it for you, I've had to deal with the US embassy here in Switzerland quite a bit because my wife is from here and I'm American so I know a bit of their workings. All the numbers are listed for US and non US citizens right on the website.
Good luck.
The first stage is having a premise to move to the US. There are a limited number of ways to qualify, the most popular being close family relationship (spouse or parent who is an American) or work.
Employment-based visas require specific education, and are very limited.
Read more about the options in this article and see if you qualify under any of these methods: http://britishexpats.com/wiki/pulaski%27...
I suggest you find the American Embassy, get a visa form and it will give you details of what is needed.
