What is the difference between legal and illegal migration?

Answer:
WHAT PART OF ILLEGAL DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND? You are answering your own question!
Legal is when you have all the specified visa's and clearance to enter the country, illegal is when you don't. Pretty black and white.
It's whether you followed the rules (laws) for immigration or not. Simple as that. Don't follow the rules, it's illegal.
One unit = up to ten illegals, therefore for every 1 illegal 9 are let through legally..the joke is on us, then your local council employs them as traffic wardens and pay them illegally until they are caught out and you pay them to be sent back, then illegal immigration officers employed illegally by the labour government send them legal passports so they can get in legally the next time. I hope this answered your question
legal means you have a visa to be in a country for a certain agree amount of time, (or permenant)
Illegal means you have no such right and may be deported any time
Legal is official, illegal is not.
We subsidize services for poor people. For example it costs $10,000 to educate a single child for a single year in California. That is not including any health services or aid to family with dependent children, etc. Their better life is at our expense.

Even with that, we let in about a million people LEGALLY each year, many of whom are poor. However, we need to limit how many can come because the money is taken from our children's education funds, and the health services from programs to serve OUR poor. Those who come illegally ignore both our sovereignity in being able to choose who comes and our limits on how many we are willing to pay for.

Our schools are overcrowded and running on 'year round' schedules in Los Angeles, for example. 40 % of our teachers are emergency credentialled. Gifted programs PE languages and other programs for our own children have been slashed to fund more and more ESL and ESL demographic targeted programs.

Our children's eduction is their future, and illegal immigrants are stealing that.
There is no such thing as an illegal immigrant because the word immigrant implies a legal status. Its like describing someone as an illegal man - you can be a man or a woman and nothing else! 'Illegal immigrant' is lazy journalism, usually found in the tabloid press, but also the BBC.
People who have entered the UK without the relevent papers have the option of applying for refugee status and they would be an asylum seeker until refugee status is given. If refugee status is refused, they remain a failed asylum seeker until removed. Because there is no state help for failed asylum seekers, they have no reason to stay in touch with the authorities and tend to disappear into the underground and become part of the black economy.
wow you really are an idiot.
animals migrate
people immigrate

the difference in America is this:

legal immigrants have applied for visas and been accepted by USCIS prior to immigrating to the USA

illegal immigrants have failed to apply for entry into this USA through USCIS prior to slithering across whatever unmanned border they can find or have overstayed their visas

You know you really could just look this up in a dictionary.
It is all about the semantics and the subliminal effect that the words carry. It is the latest "spin" on the problem of illegal aliens invading our country.

The term migrant implies some force of nature which compels someone or something to move. Birds migrate south for the winter. Salmon migrate back to the place of their birth to spawn.
People migrate to where the work is.

The subliminal message then is that migration cannot be illegal because it is a natural occurrence.

Same holds true with "illegal alien" vs. "undocumented worker" .The effect on our psyche is much different when we hear these phrases. Illegal alien screams this is wrong!!!! while undocumented worker only makes us think this is not bad. The person is a worker and just needs some sort of papers.

The real difference is in the choice of words and how those words subliminally affect us.
Illegals are better looking. Legals are good people because they have money.
ones white,,,,,,,gues which one
Animals migrate, people immigrate.......

The LEGAL term for someone who illegally enters this country without going through the proper procedures (applying for a visa, going through a criminal background check, health screening, interview, etc) is called an Illegal Alien.

Calling these people "migrants, undocumented immigrants" or any other "touchy feely" name is simply incorrect.

As far as what a person from another country coming here is called is relatively easy:

non-resident alien is one who is here forr a specific amount of time (student visa, temporary work visa, person here for a short amount of time)

resident alien is one who will be here fo an indefinite amount of time (people who have moved here and plan to stay for a while)

illegal alien is one who has entered this country illegally and, when caught is subject to deportation.

Pretty simple, huh?
Legal immigration is done the correct lawful way via the laws of the government.

Illegal aliens enter in different ways but all of them against the law. Some over stay a legal visa, some sneak across the borders .They are not immigrants they are by law illegal aliens and are subject to arrest and deportation.

Legal immigrants are welcome
Illegal aliens are not.
There is not much of a difference, although to come here legally takes about 2 years, so I don't see the since in that
Well, it's like saying, "What is the difference between making a DEPOSIT in the bank or ROBBING the bank"??? The difference is, making a deposit in your bank account, is a legal transaction, because the account, and EVERYTHING in it, belongs to YOU!!! Where as, BANK ROBBERS are committing a CRIME by taking something that belongs to someone ELSE!!!

This is what ILLEGAL immigration is doing!!! Sneaking into the country is a CRIME!!! Stealing another's social security number is a FELONY!! And those that do this (ILLEGALS) are COSTING everyone in this country that pays taxes!!!
ILLEGALS not ONLY steal i.d.'s, committ tax fraud,
among other things, but they are ABUSING our welfare and medical systems!! Taking money and benefits that belong to LEGAL U.S. CITIZENS!!!! In other words, STEALING!!

WHY is it so HARD for people to comprehend this?? Do you want people in this country, whose FIRST act is committing a CRIME??? If they will NOT respect one law, what keeps them from respecting the OTHER laws??!!
Honor, respect, decency, values....
There are many differences.
illegal is against the law or not allowed. while legal is law approved or with permission.
the differance is if you come into the country legal you have been documented. You have been checked out health wise and our government says it is ok for you to be here. illegal. is when you sneak into the country undocumented and undetected. You were not asked or invited into the country your a criminal according to immigration law as of 1929.
This misunderstanding is the current government's fault, illegal immigration is illegal i.e. No permission to come here. The dishonest current Government allowed illegally immigrating lawbreakers to stay here because they wanted an extra workforce. Now people complain about the country being hit by a crime wave, this is the result of importing people who break the law on arrival by coming here illegally. We must arrest them and deport them even if it takes decades.
