Univision, the Spanish-language TV, is sponsoring the first Spanish Debate for the Presidential Race?
Answer:
heck yes this is catering to them.you don't see the chinesse getting their language on everything or the germans, etc. if you're american our language is english! i think its said that schools are now forcing a second language down our kids thoart when they should be worried about santa and barbies!
we can't have a bilingual country what about the chinesse, japanesse, indians, the french, the germans, the swedish its not fair too them and its certainly not fair to our ancestors or the men and women who have died for this country!
We don't have a national language and you don't have to watch. Can't you complain about something more important?
All other Races assimilated the language. That's all most people ask. It's a way for communities to come together. My family learned English. They didn't try to make this country speak Italian.
it is not catering to the Spanish community. there are some legal Latinos who prefer to hear it in Spanish so they can better understand the issue. and that does not mean this will be a bilingual country. and by the way, if you ever been to high school, they require you to take at least 2 years of another language. I think that's right but a lot of people know another langauge. and no one is making you learn spanish.
It is spanish language TV station. It should be aired in spanish. Keep in mind Univision is a private corporation, not a government entity with the right to decide how they want to conduct their own business. If a privately owned station wants to conduct a debate in Swahili they have the right to do it, and the candidates have a right to either attend or not attend. These rights are exactly what is good about America. They do not detract from it!
When will people understand that English is not the official language of the United States of America and that we have never even established an official language so if a SPANISH tv station wants to do a spanish debate then of course they should be able to! I'm sorry but I think it is wrong to force everyone to speak one language and completely forget where they are from, their culture, and their heritage. We should have the right to live wherever we want in this world, speak whatever language we want, and not get harrassed about it!!
screw them if you can't speak the language of the nation you live in you shouldn't be allowed to vote
I wish these people would try this crap in say Sweden and see if everyone will bow down to you.
And the problem is? Every presidential campaign has ads in Spanish from the candidates. George W (who actually speaks Spanish half decent, well as well as he speaks English) had some ads in Spanish in 2004. It is just smart politics. Like it or not, there are U. S. citizens that speak and understand Spanish better than English, so the candidates want their message across to potential voters. In politics you win by adding, not by subtracting. So it is not their right to have a bilingual country, it is just plain smart if you ask me. Hispanics can swing elections in this country and the candidates now that.
