Since Mexico is the home of the richest man in the world, don't you think taxes should provide opportunities
He has passed Bill Gates, now. Did you see?
What do you think?

Answer:
Oh great, here comes the gloating.
People seem to complain about how we prey on third world country, and I don't deny it, but they don't seem to compain about the predatory activities from the other direction. Mexico stole American and British investments to form it's own oil company. They have the largest cement company in the world and now the Richest man. This all came about from protectionalism. THey prevent their companies from having to compete against foreign companies, but allow them to buy up ours and do business here.
The other thing is that there are so many people who worship the Rich in Mexico, but is angry that their poor. They don't seem to connect these two together. What makes it worse these same people attack the middle class.
As for taxation. I don't think we should interfer with their government. If they don't want to share the wealth, we shouldn't force them. On the other hand, we shouldn't allow their poor to come to our country.
No, exporting their poverty adds to their bottom, and we pay the price
Mexico had a fantastic industrial base, there's tons of money flowing in and out, and within the country every day... and taxes does pick all of it up only problem is that the entire government is corrupt. They have far more than enough resources to take care of their people, fact of the matter is they're greedy and they chose not to. They actually promote people without jobs to get over the border so they don't have the obligation to take care of them... "they left my country so i don't have to pay them" (AS ME2 Put it exactly right... it adds to their bottom line~which lines their pockets~ any we pay for it.)) As for jobs and opportunities there's plenty for individuals, but a smart company is only going to take the most qualified whom are more than likely those with money who've been through school etc.
You got a point.
I think it's great . . . .
Well, considering the "$" is also the symbol for the Peso, the guy is actually worth about $102-American.
He is, by far, the richest man in Mexico -excluding tourists.
I believe the guy should be giving back to the community. There are enough rich people in Mexico to make it a thriving country but most are selfish self centered people who only desire more money and more power. He is getting up in the years does he think he may take it all with him.?
From Forbes articles in 2006.
Carlos Slim Helú may soon be the richest man in the world. And in Mexico, where 50 million people live in seemingly intractable poverty, that distinction has been drawing some heat.
“It is a life project, it is a challenge,” he said. “I think that charity and social programs don’t resolve poverty.”
“Poverty is resolved with education and jobs,” he continued. “You don’t need to teach a man how to fish, as the Chinese used to say. Instead of giving him the fish, instead of teaching him how to fish, you have to teach him how to sell the fish so that he eats something else besides a fish.”
The Mexican magnate's rising fortune has caused a good deal of controversy because it has been amassed in a nation where per capita income is less than $6,800 a year and half the population lives in poverty. Critics claim he is a monopolist, pointing to Telmex’s control of 90% of the Mexican landline telephone market. Slim's wealth is the equivalent of roughly 7% of Mexico's annual economic output. If Gates had a similar proportion in the U.S., he'd be worth $874 billion.
These days, Slim insists his biggest concern is using his wealth to help solve Mexico's social ills. A year ago he infused one of his foundations, which had been long neglected, with $1.8 billion. In the fall he pledged to donate up to $10 billion to health and education programs over the next four years. Still, he poked fun at his American counterparts' much-ballyhooed philanthropic efforts at a recent press conference. "Poverty isn’t solved with donations."
I wonder if he is honoring that pledge of $10 billion.
I wonder how much in taxes he pays.
