You are right!! Church and state should always be separate institutions. History has shown that so called people of God or any other religion have had in their ranks people who want power and control over people and their ways of thinking. You can see it in the world today. Instead of allowing people to make their own mind about their beliefs, these zealots are trying to push their believes and interpretations of their religion down our throats. Any religion that think that they are the army of God are dreamers. The almighty does not need armies to show his powers, nor expensive castles (churches, mosques, temples etc).

It's always been my understanding that religious sects raise their own money for churches. It is simply wrong to allow gov't assistnace for the building of a mosque!
who is Ken Livingstone? what our the docklands? and how can he use American tax payers money to build a Mosque? would not our federal government step in to stop him? it should be Muslim people money to build they worship center all this bullsh--aqbout separtation of church & state, we can not have prayer in school any more, has to be Happy Holidays no Merry Christmas because of Christ in the word and trying to get under God taken out of our alligence to flag no way should any of our tax money go to build any mosque do you know on top of that gold dome in Arabic all mosques say GOD HAS NO SON!!! it will be last time I ever pay a penny in taxes if I find out one penny of American tax money went to build a Mosque!!!

Well would a Christain be allowed to build a Church in a Muslim country? I think not. Anyone seen with a copy of the Bible in a Muslim country would have to be a very brave or very stupid person to do so.
100M of taxpayers money would be a total waste, like some others have already said... if they want one... let them pay for it not us? not as if we would get any benefit from it is it.
Dont forget... Mr Livingstone said we shouldnt demonize Muslims after the recent failed car bombs, Muslims are laughing at us for being so gullible, easy going, we should have taken Enoch Powells' advice when he said this sort of thing would happen sooner or later. Should have closed ALL ports to Muslims then we wouldnt have this problem.

Yes I already knew about this, we should wait and see if the so called moderate muslims start coming out in the open and condemning the act's of the radicals, way more than they do, before we give permission, instead of trying to waste time appeasing a sect of Islamists who have strong ties and connections to terrorists.

Saw this on CNN a few days ago. I'm American, and I was astonished. I don't recall hearing that it was supposed to be funded with taxes, however; I thought it was supposed to be privately financed.

quite simply it's NOT TRUE !! so no need to petition against it, he could no more build a mosque than he could a church (the state does not pay to build places of worship), it's just an unfounded rumour, designed to stir up the emotions of the less intelligent out there, a few of whom will no doubt sign your petition.
Please don't be so fscking gullible. The mosque is to be paid for by private interests, like any religious facility in the last few decades. Public money is not available for religious endeavours.

I'm American so the whole government paying for religious things confuses me. are they/have they built a jewish/christian/any other religion, building of worship to equal the mosque? if not then isn't it religious descrimination?
