US citizen marrying a british national- process?

I would like to marry my british boyfriend and bring him to the US. We would like to have a wedding here in July 2008. What steps should we take beforehand and how can we expedite the process? Thanks so much in advance for your answers!

Answer:
You boyfriend needs a passport and a visa to travel to the US.

You want to look at "Spouse and Fiance(e) of an American Citizen" (see source below)

Nonimmigrant visa for fiancé(e) (K-1) - To travel to the United States for marriage. An I-129F fiancé(e) petition is required.

Unless he has other immediate relative, it will be easier to get a permanent visa after you are married.

I know one case, where the couple got married in the US and then the bride return to her home and I believe she got a temporary visa and return to the US. She then apply for a permanent visa. If I remember correctly she return at least twice and may have gotten a couple of six mo extensions before she got her green card.
you'll have to apply for a green card
