Have any illegal immigrants effected you personally? and how so?
Answer:
Not until recently, but yes.
I live in Arizona, and we have nearly as many illegal Mexican immigrants as we do American citizens. I work in management of catered events and restaurants. Within the last few years it has become increasingly difficult to find good positions in this industry. Illegal labor is not only cheaper, and more willing to work in adverse conditions, they are also able to speak with the other illegals who have been hired. I don't know very much Spanish. I can no longer communicate with the bulk of the event servers and kitchen staff, because that is all they speak. Consequently, the jobs I would normally have no trouble acquiring are going to bilingual illegals.
My boyfriend is in the house framing industry, and the truth is, if his company didn't hire illegals they wouldn't have a crew. Maybe 1 in every 100 applicants is actually a legal American.
Who else can they hire? Americans don't want to do hard manual labor in 115 degree temps.
There is no easy answer here. I do resent the fact that I live in a country whose primary language is English, and I can't find a decent job because I don't speak enough Spanish. In all other aspects I have yet to run across an illegal in a position I would want that was actually better qualified than myself in any way but the language. I generally have more experience than these people, and it no longer matters.
What gets me most though, is that most of the illegal Mexicans here that I have met hate Americans. Mexico is taking advantage of our country and we are letting them.
Also worth noting, I've worked several Mexican political conferences in Arizona. From my limited Spanish it is clear that the Mexican population here is doing everything they can to infiltrate our government and mold it to their needs. Not the needs of Americans, but the needs of the illegal immigrants. Our tax dollars are paying these people and Americans are letting it happen. The illegal Mexicans here take more interest in our government than we do.
I would like to add that I am not a bigot. Before this started to affect my job security I had a great deal of sympathy for their situation. Now I feel that before they modify our country to suit them, perhaps they should go fix their own.
yeah, they built my house. great people.
NO, i just see how every one is too damn innorant and close minded, not the immigrants si no the people who are citizens. they also build my house So GRACIAS.
Yes...My dear friend Bryan was born in America to illegal immigrants seeking (but not receiving) diplomatic immunity. He graduated high school with honors, joined the Army and spent 16 months as a gunner on a tank in Iraq and is now pursuing a civil engineering degree.
I never would have met Bryan had his parents waited to immigrate legally. Hell, he may have never been born due to assasinated parents.
It's "affected", and the answer is yes.
Two drunk illegal Mexicans t-boned my car, injured my son, and killed my best friend. You know what they got?
Let go by an illegal sympathizer cop.
So, yes, I hate them all if they're not legal.
Yes. One raped, tortured and murdered a family friend, after her robbed her because he had spent his welfare check on crack.
He got off with a slap on the wrist.
I can't imagine what her husband went through trying to explain to their 7 year old daughter why the bad man who hurt mommy wasn't going to jail.
Needless to say I think all illegals are the same kind of slime as Al Qaeda operatives.
I have absolutely no problem with legal immigrants.
let me see...
My medical insurance is higher than necessary, because too many illegals purposely injured themselves to get away from border agents (and a week of free meals/care in the air-conditioned room). Unfortunately, none of those illegals will pay for the medical service (which is about $8000 dollars per illegal), so all the honest law-obeying tax-payers now have to pay for them.
My hard-earn tax dollars have to take care of the illegal's children, instead of going to other necessary work.
...etc...etc.
Well, I had a good job close to home and they moved illegals in and cut our pay raises and benefits to the point I had to find another job because immigrants don't want benefits. I now drive 80 miles round trip to work everyday just to stay afloat.
They effect ever single tax payer personally. When they clog our ER, when they take up space in our prisons so much we have to let criminals back on the streets, when our children do not get a good education because of the interruptions and discipline problems. I could go on with this list as I have a tendency to take it down to micro level, but you get the drift I think.
i learned spanish from illegal aliens, I also got my truck rolled over when one ran a stop sign. i also have to pay extra auto insurance because we have a lot of illegals wrecking in the area.
We are all descendents of immigrants.
They keep me employed,,and we will "always" have illegals,,,,sad, but true,,,,
You either used "effected" incorrectly or misspelled it. The word should be affected.
We (my husband and I) own a construction company. We do not hire illegal aliens because it is against the law and I will not put an American taxpayer out of a job for someone who did not have enough respect for the taxpayers to enter this country legally whether that was to work or for permanent residence.
We are now loosing bids to the companies who use primarily illegal labor (which is most in my area except for some of the family run businesses with good reputations), it has always been a competitive area but now it is getting hard to do business. The companies using illegal labor can underbid us enough to get the jobs and increase their profit at the expense of cheap labor. No savings are passed down to the public, they are also underpaying these illegals by a significant amount from what we can tell, as well as working them long and unsafe hours and not following code, which is also bad for the illegal workers. As for benefits for those workers? non existent, pure greed.
That hurts our family business, our employees and their families as well as my family "personally".
Actually they have. My medical insurance is high. I also work in healthcare and they clog up the ER and make it difficult for ppl who have true emergencies to get the help they need. Lastly, my neighbor was hit and killed by an illegal who was drinking and driving.
Yes, let's see. Two family members have lost their job, thanks to Bush economics of guest visas. It has taken 9 years for an increase in the minimum wages, yet Congress and Senate vote themselves a raise each week, three family members have had to take lower paying jobs, thanks to the under the table payments these jerks accept. Another relative got arrested breaking the law to earn money for his family because he could not earn honest work. I went into a court, and the defendants needed a translator. They had been in USA for years, still did not know English. Drove by a Mexican grocer who had signs in Spanish but not English, (does anyone complain?) Sometimes I wonder how bad it must get before citizens take a stand with their reps and tell them to oust the illegal lot.
Yes. Many local construction companies and landscaping companies will only hire illegal immigrants because they can get away with paying them so little and without benefits. I have personally witnessed this for drywalling, roofing, and underground lawn sprinkler installations.
If you are not an illegal immigrant, you have no chance of securing employment with these companies no matter how talented or proficient you are at these jobs. If you want to start up your own landscaping or construction company of any signifant size, you cannot compete with the rates that the companies hiring illegals can offer.
These companies, by the way, charge relatively high prices, and the owners just cash in on the larger profit margin they make by exploiting their cheap labor. I've had owners of the companies brag about this directly to me, saying things like, "I can get 5 of these guys for the price of 1 American worker", and that they don't complain about the work environment and conditions, etc.
And by the way, I live in Michigan. Yes, MICHIGAN. When the illegal immigrant problem is noticeable up here, you'd think people would start to see we have a problem.
Read Rabid Frog's answer for more details and think about how the recent builder's boom cheated America in so many different ways.
Obviously there are many other way's I'm affected personally that others have brought up here like higher taxes, high insurance rates, etc, etc.
Higher taxes, higher insurance.
Yes, they "affect" me.
Yes. when I have to go to the ER, I have to wait longer hours because the hospital is packed with illegals.
A friend of mine was looking for a construction job, and he was told that he wouldn't be hired because he wasn't an illegal.
Also, they contribute to overpopulation which in turn affects quality of life.
Yes , my daughter made the mistake of marrying one . After 3weeks he wanted to bring his family to live with them and work . He ran up $800 phone bill then took her car to pick them up at border . She went to Mexico with him to check on house they were building and had to put in her name ,because he hadn't spent his time ( 2yr ) in the Mexican Army . When they got back there were 3 other people living in her home . .They only spoke Spanish and made fun of her and the way she did things . They called her gringo puta and . Her husband took her pay check and threatened her . His family ran up big ph bills calling Mexico , When we found out , we made them move out and she got a divorce . There was more to it and we had to get the police involved , to this day she is still afraid of him and his family . Some members of which , belong to Mexican Mafia , and have lived in US for 10 yrs , illegal;y .
She lost her home and had to claim bankruptcy and that affects her today .
Yes they have. We sold one of our homes to a businessman of Hispanic descent . I live in an upper middle class neighborhood ..this man went ahead and rented it to about 40 people, I find beer bottles in the street, I have to listen to Spainish music at all hours. The yelling the fighing the noise, its rude and annoying and i never know who actually lives there, because there is 100 of them...at one point 3 of the young women were pregnant...The LANDLORD does not call us back... They do not maintain their yard and its part of their lease. So my neighbors and I end up picking up their garbage,,,So you tell me, Does that effect me?
Yeah..they did. I found some were living across the street. Got suspicious and got the whole family deported back to Central America. They were working "under the table" not paying taxes and had alot of company for somebody with such a small house. So i called the feds. They raided the place next week. They are gone.
Actually I have not been affect by illegal immigrants.
I'm in graduate school and I really doubt any illegal would be going after my job once I finish school.
Yep. I married one. Still married and very happy. He's a good guy, he works harder than anyone I know, he takes care of me, and he would do ANYTHING to become legal. So I hope this legislation passes. It used to be that if you married a US citizen you could become a citizen too but since he entered illegally he can't. I understand that they quit that because too many illegals were marrying just to get the greencard but I think if two people truly love each other and can prove it somehow, someway, then the person should be able to stay and become legal. And I don't care how many people hate me for being married to an illegal, he is a person like anyone else and I should be able to love whomever I want to love. He's never done any harm to any american, nor does he go to the emergency room when he is hurt, he has a doctor he pays cash too, he has a valid drivers license, and auto insurance, a bank account, and taxes come out of his check every week. He works 7 days a week so that we both can have the things we want and need and he certainly treats me better than any legal american guy ever has!
of course NOT!they affected you only if you are a lazy worker or a lazy people ,I don't get why you citizens of USA keep saying the illegal immigrants don't paid taxes ,they do even if you don't have a "GOOD" social security number the government accepted their money...I think your angry with them because they are better workers than most of you, they came here illegally and even so buy houses ,business ,hired people to worked for them ,many of them paid taxes & paid their own insurance...and you? what do you do been american citizen??
most of the people who answered this are exaggerating and it is only a few who actually affected them. and you can't blame or hate all illegals for a few crimes. who you be more mad if an American did these crimes? probably not, you are only using this immigration issue to your advantage.
Yes they have i worked for a company named Huffy bikes they shut the the doors to the plant and moved to Mexico.Like a lot of other company's in the states we send them our jobs and the illegals still come to this country. We need to shut the gates the faster the better!!
They affect all of us whether we know it or not.
They are part of the reason insurance is so high. I personally have to pay a
sh!t load on health insurance in part b/c of them
No, none affected me personally at all ! What a shame you can't stand to hear MY truth .
Yes, i have been a mason - brick, block, rock etc. - for over thirty years and I started my own business in 1994 to make a lot of $$$$$ and I was until the illegals hit town in droves. Now I can't even find a job as a mason. My pay would be around $28.00 per hour and that is what I would be paying to my employees... but good news my attorneys are preparing a RICO case for me to file very soon that will make the headlines of every paper and tv station in America... they have told me that it will spread across America and become the largest type of suit ever filed and will eclispe the tobacco settlements.
