What are your views on Bush Amnesty means that you've got to pay a price for having been here illegally?

ABC News' Rick Klein reports: President Bush has spent a whole lot of time in recent months claiming that the immigration bill isn't "amnesty."

But in describing the measure Tuesday morning, an apparent slip of the tongue suggested otherwise -- providing fodder for the talk-radio crowd that loathes the bill and wants it defeated in the Senate.

"You know, I've heard all the rhetoric -- you've heard it, too -- about how this is amnesty. Amnesty means that you've got to pay a price for having been here illegally, and this bill does that," Bush said, according to the official White House transcript. Did Bush really slip and is now damage control mode ?See more @
This just might get the attention of Lou Dobbs and Rush Limbaugh -- and it's terrible timing for the president, with a key vote in the Senate Tuesday afternoon.

Answer:
Look at who was talking- the King of Malapropism GWB. He can't even pronounce 'nuclear' and 'secretary' correctly, how do you expect him to know any better. His description clearly shows he does not even know what the word amnesty means and he needs to spend some time with a tutor and a large dictionary before he opens mouth and sticks in foot.
am·nes·ty~ noun
1. a general pardon for offenses, esp. political offenses, against a government, often granted before any trial or conviction.
2. Law. an act of forgiveness for past offenses, esp. to a class of persons as a whole.
3. a forgetting or overlooking of any past offense.

It is not amnesty, the whole process is not without punishment for the people who would benefit from the bill. It will not be free. As it stands right now
to apply for residency
application fee $325.00- I-130 form (this is just for the Department of Justice to approve that to say they are eligible to apply for a green card)
For work permit $180.00
Adjustment of status $325.00 form I-485 which adjusts their status to legal alien with a "green card" number
For this "path to citizenship they are proposing"
For every year they were here which they will have to prove and they have had to have been here by a specific cut off date
1) The bill wants to have them pay BACK TAXES ( this might be removed)
2) they have to pay a fine of about $5,000 ( might get lowered to $2,000)
3) Retaining an immigration attorney to do paperwork alone is about $1,500- $3,000
total so far:- $7,330-$8,830 and this does not count the back taxes.
As of August 1,2007, the application fees will triple so..
$1,010 I-130
$ 340 work permit
$1,010- I -485
total $8,860-$10,360. This does not even factor in an application for a child under the age of 14 which would add an additional $600 or an adult parent such as a grandmother over the age of 79 which would add an additonal $930 not the mention those BACK TAXES. All told if it is a family of 4 2 adults, 2 kids their bill alone would $17,420-$18,920

If that is free and without consequences, tell me another story.
The bill includes border enforcement, increasing the number of border patrol agents, detention centers, reinforcing a fence, national strategy for border security, removal of aliens ordered removed, inadmissibilty and deportability of ANY gang member, alien who is charged and convicted of child abuse, domestic abuse, stalking, violating restraining orders, drunk driving, perjury, firearms offenses. I could go on and on. i read the bill myself. it is not perfect but it is a start. I lhave learned through experience to research myself, not rely on pundits to tell me how to think and feel.
Jorge Bush finally said something right! After months of saying that this isn't amnesty, he admits it is!
So his tongue slipped big deal...this same rant is boring after 5 times.
I saw it and heard it,too. But how in the h*ll is he going to enforce the fines if he doesn't know how many are here? If they can't round them up for deportment, how many are going to come forward to pay a fine? If only the head of household has to return to their countries of origin that means that our welfare roles will really be spinning out of control! Lou urged people to register as independents so that no party can count on your vote. That may strike some fear in our two party politics. I'll be watching CSPAN 2 to hear what they lie about next!
I don't really understand a hell of a lot about this Amnesty subject because of all the double talk that goes with it But I have so little trust in Bush and this senate I do believe that Being here illegal should carry a heavy price and NO amnesty. Thanks for your opinion and the address .Maybe It will help me understand better. Lou Dobbs will explain it at 6:00 pm
