Your advice?

If you could give someone legally immigrating to the U.S. advice about what it is like to live here, what the ideals are, or what to expect, what would it be? I'll thank everyone in advance for keeping the answers respectful and not ethnicity specific...

Answer:
I would tell them America is great. We have many different cultures here and all of them have contributed something positive to our great nation.America IS a land of opportunity and any hardworking person can be whatever they choose to be with hard work and perseverance. To show respect for our land as I would theirs. Not to disrespect ANY person or expect the same in return.Americans are some of the most loving and open minded persons of the world.Enjoy us,enrich us,respect us and our beliefs and you will do fine.
i would tell them good luck and hope they make it big. show respect and they will get respected in return. i would even invite them to my home as long as they was abiding by our laws like we have to.
I would say "STAY AT HOME"
I've lived in the US and the UK as well as traveled all over the world and I have to say I love living here (the UK as well, its just so expensive). The ideals are, generally, work and pay for yourself (dont rely on US gov't to supplement your income). Obey the law, treat your neightbors well, and just be a good person. Here all men and women are created equal. The opportunities the men have is the same the women have. You do not have to 'bow' down to anyone or put up with abuse from your partner. It depends on what you want as to where you live. If you want cold short winters and hot summers, the southern areas are best. They also tend to be the friendlist and take things slower. The north is much colder for much longer and have a shorter summer. The pace tends to be a bit faster but if you are in a large city, the pace tends to be much quicker (Atlanta, a southern city is still a bit slower paced than somewhere like New York, in the north). As long as you are here legally, speak decent english and get a job that pays you bills you should have no problems. Here when you get a job you are given medical insurance, this is one of the big reasons Americans resent when people come here and dont work. Those of us who work end up paying the bill for there medical treatement. Hope this helps and good luck
tds -- thanks for your enlightened answer. It is a good question to pose -- why do you think it is so much more expensive to live in the UK? Or to pose the question from a different persective -- what do you think it is about the US that we are able to enjoy a certain standard of living at a lower cost than in the UK?

Hmmmm..what could the answer be? Does it have something to do with immigration?
they should move to new york cuz its the best state
