Newcastle was never scottish,it was built to keep out marauding scots and from the time of bruce and wallace along with the bambinos we left behind was populated by scots .Why do you think the scots and geordies both hate the southern english.The first dukes of northumberland were southerners who oppressed the north ,why did the earl of surrey govern the north.

As a Newcastle resident, perhaps I should have a say.
What this has to do with immigration is beyond me. My home town has many cultures in it and I am proud to see them and talk to them. We have a culture of openness and hospitality that no far right party can take away from us.
If the people of Scotland want independence, I wish them the best of luck. Only Labour and the Tories fear independence as it would deprive the economy for a short while. So what? Push Legoland and Buck House for a few more quid and bring some more tourists in.
Newcastle is on the south side of Hadrian's wall - I know as I see it each time I go to work. When it was built it was the partition between England and Scotland. Ask the people of Northumberland if they want to be part of England or Scotland - I don't know what the answer is!

Newcastle? Don't think so mate. Do you mean Berwick perhaps (that was once the most prosperous town in Scotland)? Personally speaking, as a Scot, the Border should stay as it is, unless of course the people of Berwick, Newcastle or whatever wanted to become part of Scotland. Somehow I can't see it though.
