I don't think they will be getting citizenship! They just will be able to get a green card and work here legally. They are still Mexican citizens, for those that are Mexican! Many Aren't!
And no law has been passed yet!
I think we are being so selfish about this immigration thing... we should give some of them a chance. We are very lucky to be Americans and those on the other side of the fence just want to experience that feeling of nationalism and freedom too. I fully support amnesty for immigrants but it has to be carefully filtered and monitered and on a phased basis.
Tonight on the news, the government made the best immigrant proposal so far. It included a period of 8 years, $5000 fine and was based on work and education rather than family ties among other requirements.
They won't be getting citizenship! Probably permanent residence! They are going to have to earn citizenship, just like every other naturalized citizen ( such as myself). Besides the majority of illegals desire not to become citizens!!
