Is there no one to fill these job orders in America?

The premise behind weakening our immigration laws is the assumption that there are no Americans who will do certain work -- such as harvest our crops. I challenge this claim: Prisoners fight fires, clean city and county roads, repair roads and other sorts of public related work. Why can't prisoners be bused out to farms to harvest crops? It would save the government money in farm subsidies, it would save the government money it spends on programs to support immigrants who come here just for these specific jobs, it would expand career options in the field of law enforcement, and it may help improve morale among inmates. I'm sure there are other benefits as well. What do you think of this idea? Could it work? Would Congress consider this as a viable alternative?

Answer:
Who is going to pay the cost to monitor, supervise, feed and transport these prisoners? Again, the US taxpayer. The illegal immigrant doesn't need to be monitored, they can feed and transport themselves. The illegal is still a more sensible worker.
sure it could work, but i dont think the big companies would accept cuz then everything would have to b by the book! Plus inmates would rebel or somethin, who knows i'm so sick of this issue cuz nothing is being done
Beacuse when they do roadwork etc they are not creating profit for anyone. You acnnot use prisoners to perform work for a private company. Besides, you just just proved what you were trying to disprove. Obviously americans wont do the work if you have to drag prisoners out to the farms at gunpoint to get someone to do it.

And if its the case that the illegals come into the country to fill niche for workers, isnt that that capitalism thing at work?
There are plenty of Americans ready to work for a decent wage. Illegals have ruined our country. Listen......other countries have very very few repeat offenders...guess why?
The USA is in a death spiral, it won't be long before a really radical political party forms, and enough people are ready to back it up. Lock and load time.
It would cover alot of the jobs. but companies probably wouldn't like it I not sure about other states but in NC the jobs that inmates do for companies, the companies pay the state so much per hour for the inmate labor, i know of at least on that was paying 7 dollars an hour. and then the inmates only earn 70 cents to a dollar aday. only problem other than it costing the companies to much is some inmates would rather take seg time (in the hole) than work.
One of the problems with using prisoners for labor is this: the prison system would become a job center and knowing that any gov. run institution is a waste of breath, they'd delay releases and keep targeting the same people for cheap labor and over again.
In any case, Victoria secret is already is already using prison labor. I am boycotting their stuff.
YEA, GOOD POINT!
BUT THEN THE PRISONERS RIGHT WILL BE VIOLATED.

AND GOD KNOW WE HAVE TO RESPECT THEIR RIGHTS NO MATTER WHAT. PLUS LETS JUST FACE REALITY!!! OPEN TO INTERPRETATION!!!
why don't we just send them to Iraq? or have them build a rail system? A lot of people who go to jail are doing short time because of overcrowding and then they are on probation or if they wear leg bands they are visited by parole officers. I think the system is overburdened at trying to solve the basic issues than to take on more. I know the judicial filing system here has been trying to update to new technology over the past 7 years and it cost twice what it was supposed to cost, and now they anticipate another 7 years before that filing system is online so they can find things. The problem is that technology keeps improving and they can't keep up.
Good idea. You should call your local legislator and suggest that to him or her. ON the other hand, you still won't stop immigration from Latin america, especially since the economic disparity between the US and Latin america continues to be so great
easy answer, prison workers will pick the fruit instead of sitting in a cell and watching Oprah.
