Did the Senate "do the right thing" and do what Americans want or is more of a "I don't care what the voters want."

Kennedy has become such a fat laughable loser that most people, even democrats, dont care what he sais anymore. not that he was ever a moral figure, but these days he is even more pathetic. I would put more stock into a what a bum off the street sais , then him.

Since he came to the Senate he is trying to make this issue his legacy. His brothers had tremendous issues of the Cold War, Civil Rights and Poverty to address and be leaders on that we can be proud of, Ted this issue is going to bankrupt the US and destroy us for years if passed the way the Senate is currently moving.

The only reason he's a senator is because of his last name. He hasn't done anything important...so he's mistakenly thinking that his name will be written in gold in history if this crappy bill passes. Kennedy and all his amnesty buddies are so disconnected with America...it's unbelievable. We've been slapped in the face. We must slap them back!
The reason that the vast majority of the American people seems to be a "small political faction" to this man and so many others in Congress --- is the FACT that we are so far away from the everyday world of these lunatics !!
They can't SEE the American voter from the private jets and clubs that they are enclosed within -- they "plan and think tank" with the special interest groups and corporation heads so much of the time -- they actually believe THEM to BE America !

Here's the problem. The bill as stands contains 2 very important components and a host of other minor ones. The amnesty portion of the bill is without a doubt highly contested by voters. However, this is not just an amnesty bill as it is coupled with a major increase in spending for an array of border enforcement tools including a fence, watchtowers, aerial survellance and thousands more border guards. Most Americans support this idea so when you say "do what Americans want", you have to understand that part of the bill does and part of it doesn't. The bill is coupled this way due to a compromise on the part of democratics to work with the president. So Kennedy's comments are appropriate when you see that a republican president, 24 republican senators, 1 independent, and 39 democratic senators are all working together to get something done. Is it the most ideal bill? No. Is it better than what we have right now? Yes. What we have now doesn't work so it would be ludicrous to just keep on doing nothing.
