Answer:
It's called cultural arrogance they assume anyone with Brown skin must be of their culture.

You have skin color issues...And your a little thin skinned..Geez, grow up.
amigo, they assume you are of their nationality, break the word assume down, and go from there
Amazing! You have managed to put your ignorance on display with both your racist statements and your glaring lack of knowledge on American history. Don't schools still teach that? While the American Indians were indeed here, the Greeks and Italians began immigrating in the 18th century in low numbers and eventually came in droves in the 19th and early 20th centuries. However, most of what is now called the southwest was stolen from Mexico, so yes they were here before you.
Note: read up on the Mexican-American War. California, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, Utah and parts of Colorado were ceded to the United States under the terms of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. It was called "Manifest Destiny" in the 1800's and justified stealing all land between the Atlantic and Pacific from whomever for the purpose of expanding the U.S.
But since you are white, do you not understand that your ancestors also came here from another country? And if its a contest among those that were here first then the Native Americans and the Mexicans win. Reading is fundamental.
I am a Mexican American (3rd generation) born and raised in the U.S (with a few college degrees).. Both sets of my grandparents were from Mexico and came here legally. I have blonde hair and blue eyes ( from spanish ancestry).
I can't count the times people, and acquaintences have blatantly spewed their racist remarks to me because they thought I was one of them.
Of course the minute I told them my heritage, they were embarrassed and apologetic. Yes it hurts to hear some of these remarks, but I don't hate these people I have spoken with.
I have to remind these people that they really don't know who they are talking to based on someone's looks, which is similar to your situation. That doesn't mean you have to hate them for it.
And by the way, a large portion of the U.S. belonged to Mexico way before your ancestry came here on some dego boat.
It's not any different when the irish, english, etc. came to this country and were racist with one another.
True, but it's also true that a lot of people think that if you have dark skin you are Mexican (I'm talking about non-Mexicans). Also, why do a lot of people think a Mexican can't be blond or have white skin? This type of racism goes both ways.
