Can a foreign born never working in the US married to a US citizen living hear receive Soc Sec?s?
Answer:
Yes they can receive social security. We have a reciprocal agreement with some other countries in which retirement benefits can be paid out.
I'm far from being an expert on this subject, but I believe that since the husband is a U.S. citizen drawing social security benefits, that if he were to die his wife would still be eligible to receive survivor's benefits.
I'm under the impression that you have to contribute to it to get it. Although i think if the the husband was to die, she might be able to collect his for a short time.
If you don't have to contribute to get it, then i can see why when I become of age to collect why I'll never see what I put into it.
If she is drawing off a portion of what he put into SS. That is called spousals benefits.
