I just found out that i'm part navaho and have heard that my family quailify for goverment money for indians
Answer:
I'm 1/32nd Chippewa. That and $3.50 will buy me a large coffee at Starbucks.
that's good,,,but it depends a lot on what the navajo nation will do for their citizens.
How much Navajo are you? Each tribe has a different required blood quota. If you think you may be eligible for something, contact the Bureau of Indian Affairs and find out.
You have to register with the Navajo Nation...to do so you need to have documentation to prove your heritage and that you are indeed Navajo. Some tribes require a certain percentage to qualify others don't. Your best bet is to visit their web page and find out what their requirements are.
Thats great. What does this have to do with illegal immigration?
My great grandmother was also Navajo. Because my great grandfather was a black, I am considered black under US law. To my knowledge, 1 drop black blood makes you black. I would love to contact my Navajo ancestors but due to US records keeping at the time I am deprived of knowing who they were. I cannot figure out how to help you but I can wish you very much good luck on your endeavor and hope that you share your new knowledge with others!
Good for you. Get all your paper work to gather. Present it
to the proper agent. Then you listen to that fool tell you off
the top of his head that the ancestor you talking about is a
different person from the one who was Navajo. If you can
find some family on the reservation and establish family ties
with them that might help. Get back to me and let me know
what kind of luck you are having. I understand that the money
is enough to live on the reservation but not off of it.
Good luck.
That's nice.Every nation has their own rules on qualifing. You need to get a I.P.L. number. I am 1/8th Mohawk and that is not enough for tribal acknowlegment. I wanted to find out not for any benifits but just out of respect for my family ties.It doesn't matter to me that I amnot acepted into the Mohawk Nation, I know for myself and that is the important thing. Good luck.cousin...
You need to go the tribe your family came from and talk with them about any benefits you might be able to receive.
Oh Great! Just what the American taxpayer needs, another dead-beat lined up for a free handout!
