Dirty Jobs?
Answer:
Exactly. That's why it's a complete lie when Bush and his amnesty buddies say that illegals take on jobs Americans won't do. Give me a break.
That is a fact !!
Those jobs pay extremely well. And happy birthday, I assume...;)
I know a job I won't do. the President's speech writer. that poor guy must have to write speeches that only a 2nd grader could understand
VERY good point!!
Good point. A lot of the jobs featured on that show do pay pretty well though. It's not like they make minimum wage.
You are right... We'll do them for the right price.
By "Americans" they mean most, or in general. There are plenty of jobs that people individually will settle for, but as a whole the lowest paying, most unappealing jobs go to the immigrants whether illegal or not.
I once sent a suggestion into Mike Rowe to profile the dirtiest job of them all: A jizzmopper at a nudie booth.
I never heard back from him, and they haven't yet profiled the job of a jizzmopper!
LOL. That show is so cool. My brother has a dirty job. He gets paid really well. He loves his job because it is a dirty job. He's a garbage truck welder. He never handles garbage but builds them and he fixes them when they come in.
Amen to that!
By the way, it's one of my favorite shows to watch!
It's a case of the fact that Americans go where the money is. Those people get paid a lot so Americans will take the job. The immigrants get the jobs at the stop and shop checkout making dirt wages because the Americans take the best paying jobs for themselves
They'll do them but if not for all the illegal immigrants those jobs would pay more. As a kid I had a construction job as a expediter (basically a laborer), the bottom rung of the ladder. I was paid 8 dollars an hour starting wage, that was in 1978 and it wasn't a union job.
A person today doing the same thing in Southern California would probably get 10 dollars an hour to start.
We have an unholy alliance between Democrat and Republican. Democrats look to the illegals as people who'll always vote for them and Republicans love the cheap labor.
By the way did you see the episode on roofers? They were all Mexican except for Mike Rowe, the crew boss and the truck driver.
im sorry are u comparing a small percentage of jobs shown on television to a vast number across the nation. Its always easier to make judgements from TV shows than to actually do the hard work n look for the facts. Dirty jobs. please but it make sfor good ENTERTAINMENT i guess right it got ur attention!
I guess Being a border guard is a job that Americans don't want to do as the Majority of Border Guards are Hispanic/Latino/whatever the current PC phrase is.
This article shows the difference with an emphasis on Women.
I haven't seen a job a USA citizen has or had that they wouldn't do seems they are taking jobs we had .
Those jobs on that show are one-offs, unique, one-of-a-kind, AND THEY PAY WELL. The jobs discussed in the larger labor debate are the low-wage, widely available positions that go unfilled. Pay a REAL wage, and Americans will fill those jobs.
The problem is the employers. To wit - when a Swift Meats plant in Iowa was raided a year or so ago, all the low-wage jobs were suddenly open. Guess who filled them? Yes, Americanst - BUT AT EIGHTEEN DOLLARS per hour, NOT at the unconscionable scut wage that Swift paid the illegals.
But what caught my eye was the term "Dirty Jobs" - which made me just want to share the Faith No More song and lyric:
http://www.last.fm/music/faith+no+more/_...
We care a lot about disasters, fires, floods and killer bees
We care a lot about the NASA shuttle falling in the sea
We care a lot about starvation and the food that Live Aid bought
We care a lot about disease, baby Rock, Hudson, rock, yeah!
We care a lot about the gamblers and the pushers and the geeks
We care a lot about the crack and smack and whack that hits the street
We care a lot about the welfare of all the boys and girls
We care a lot about you people cause we're out to save the world
YEAH!
And it's a dirty job but someone's gotta do it
We care a lot about the army navy air force and marines
We care a lot about the SF, NY and LAPD
We care a lot about you people, about your guns
about the wars you're fighting gee that looks like fun
We care a lot about the Garbage Pail Kids, they never lie
We care a lot about Transformers cause there's more than meets the eye
We care a lot about the little things, the bigger things we top
We care a lot about you people yeah you bet we care a lot,
YEAH!
Well, its a dirty job but someone's gotta do it
Yes, I’ve seen the show several times and I believe they mean most Americans would not choose a “dirty job” like what is featured on the show. Americans can be more selective when choosing a career because of their citizenship and the wide range of opportunities offered in the U.S., however immigrants, illegal or not don’t often have that choice and will more readily take on a “dirty job”.
