It takes the Green Card, which is in essence a Work Visa. Sometimes, an employer will sponsor you application for such a card. The automatic approval for such a card they hand out to health care professionals (nurses and such) and au pairs (being a nanny for the rich folks). But hey, we've got 12 million illegal workers and nobody doing anything about it.
