Moving to Canada as a Sex Offender?

My brother and I are wishing to move to Canada. I have my passport, and so does he. Only trouble is, six years ago when he was fifteen, he was arrested for being in the wrong place, wrong time. As a result, he has to register as a sex offender until he's 28. He is a level 0 risk, e.g. pretty much a normal person in the eyes of the police and the two psychiatrists he has had to see. We want to go to Ft. McMurray. Does anyone know what problems we would encounter, if this could happen at all?

Answer:
Canada doesn't like sex offenders there either. They'll run you out of the country. Well your brother anyway if they'll even let you in. Because my understanding is that one cannot have a criminal record to apply for entry.
Check with Canada's INS...was it a felony? Unfortunately, I don't think they will allow it, but it's worth a try.
If he is was a minor at the time, it shouldn't be on his record? Check with an immigration attorney or check with the Canadian embassy. If it has followed him, then you may have a problem moving to Canada, they don't accept people with a criminal record.
Nope - he won't be allowed in. His record will be seen by customs. We don't want immigrant criminals in Canada.
are you crazy to move here, so many are canadian and immigrant are bring own life in danger to cross the border in USA, are you know life in canada is so hard so expensive, hard to land job, so much pay and pay and pay in many way's to government
Canada is not big on taking American convicts on as citizens. There is no such thing as 0 risk. Call immigration and see what the policy is. Your brother is accountalbe to American authorities until his time is up. It is possible he would not be given permission from American authorities. They dont not accept many felons in any country for citizenship, in fact , has he even applied for a passport yet? They are not slinging them around like they used to.
Stay HOME, we got enough sex offenders here , we don't need another one.
check with the Canadian laws. i would think if He's an adult it would not be on his record. but a sex offender? i can't answer that. call Canada and talk to the states.
Hello,
As long as he already has a passport I foresee a problem. Better ask before hand.
If he is still listed as a sex offencder he will have trouble getting in . Rememver you have to go through imigration who will carry out a thoough search . You have to apply for immigration to get into Canada so at the same time why don't you contact the Canadian embassy where you located and ask them . They might advise you to wait till he is off the offenders list . A PASSPORT DOES NOT LET YOU INTO CANADA TO STAY FOR PERMANENT RESIDENCY ! LIKe I SEE SOME THOUGHT IS HERE
