What determines or qualifies a person as an "immigrant"?

Answer:
The definition of a immigrant is a individual who migrates from his native land or residence and travels to a different land to live there, its generally continent or country based, so lets say if you lived in germany and you moved to itally then you would be a german immigrant in italy vis versa, and if you wernt born in the country you currently are in then your also an immigrant.....

if your parents came to america from spain like 20 years ago but your were born in america then your not a immigrant but if you were born in spain and came to the U.S. then you would be considered a immigrant
a person who comes to live in a country he wasnt born in
If you were born in another country (as a citizen of that country) besides the one you're currently living in, you're an immigrant.
Someone who moves to another country.
Going through the proper channels to enter a country and work. Technically you have illegal immigrants and legal immigrants...
An immigrant is someone who intends to reside permanently, and not a casual visitor or traveler, in another country other than his or her land of birth
