Did you know data shows confidence in Congress at all time lows?

Just 14% of Americans have a great deal or quite a lot of confidence in Congress.
This 14% Congressional confidence rating is the all-time low for this measure, which Gallup initiated in 1973. The previous low point for Congress was 18% at several points in the period of time 1991 to 1994.
Congress is now nestled at the bottom of the list of Gallup's annual Confidence in Institutions rankings, along with HMOs. Just 15% of Americans have a great deal or quite a lot of confidence in HMOs. (By way of contrast, 69% of Americans have a great deal or quite a lot of confidence in the military, which tops the list. More on this at galluppoll.com on Thursday).

Answer:
We have turned the keys to the country over to them ( Congress ) to run it while we amuse ourselves with our on self interest ! Hey , If someone gave you the keys to the bank , and said get what you want when you want , just don`t bother us while we are doing other things ? What do you think you would do ?? It`s all about "Power" for both parties ! It is a Greater Than Thou Attitude that Congress has developed over the last 4 decades . The Do As I Say , Not As I Do philosophy is a mandate that Congress ordained themselves to run the country by ; A Vision Of The Elite , you might say ! We as taxpayers have become their serfs and lackeys`, and they consider themselves the Kings` and Queens` of the Kingdom with us at their service ! As long as either party can convince the people that support them that it is the other guy and his party that is always wrong , and things that don`t go the way each particular party wants them to go then the "Blame Game" keeps them in power , and keeps us the American Taxpayer snapping at each other in the blame game . As long as they can keep the American people seperated on issues , they have us right where they want us , unhappy , playing the blame game , and continuing to vote them in office ! Once in office these elected officials are set for life ! They have a retirement package us ordinary "joes`" only can dream about ! They have a salary that is a hidden treasure to most of the hard working American taxpayer ! Once The American Taxpaying Citizens understand that it is not the people that support the "other party " you don`t agree with that is your problem , it is the leaders of each party that keep the communication line blocked between us as citizens from communicating with each other as " Americans" by keeping the "Blame Game pot boiling" . Hey ; none of us are right "all" the time , and none of us are "wrong" all the time , but both the political parties are the roadblock in our communication with each other ! You see ; It is all about POWER !! If we as Americans are kept busy playing the "Blame Game" against each other , then we can`t watch our backs while the political parties steal our money , our power , and our confidence ! They have convinced us we are two different peoples as Americans` , and it ain`t so ! Take time to look at both sides of all the issues , and don`t be afraid to admit if either are wrong , if the issue doesn`t benefit the Country as a whole , then it is not the way to go !! It`s all about the "Power " we as Americans have given the political parties , both of them ! Both parties need to come to the realization that the "power" they have is The American Citizens Power we have "loaned" them . They also need to be reminded that we can take "Our Power " back when ever we want !! We are a free people , and we will not be controlled by "Socialist" ideas ! It didn`t work in Russia , Cuba , or anywhere else it has tried to hatch , and it won`t work in America !
JUST ABOUT WHERE IT WAS THE LAST TIME THAT THE DEMS HAD CONTROLL
heard it on the news this morning
Who can blame us, they are trying to ram legislation down our throats when it is obvious that the majority of Americans are against it. They were sent there to represent us and yet they aren't listening to well. It seems the only thing happening on the Hill lately is constant bickering and fighting between the two parties. Lets vote them all out next election.
I think the polls reflect that people are paying more attention to the actions of our elected officials and we are not pleased by their incompetence.
I also think they predict coming changes in the Senate. Lots of them.
Hm... A do-nothing congress which ignores the voice of the people on almost every issue... Can we say "duh"?
wow, lower than Bush
because we have idiots trying to do this job and there not good at it America needs to wake up and stop voting for idiots
The democrats in their run-up to the election made a lot of promises and they have not delivered that is why they are low on opinion even lower than the President.
It's full of dems so it figures its at a 10yr low
Actually it Congress has a 23-29% approval rating, not that much lower than Bush's which is 26-32% Congress typically has a slightly lower rating than the president.
But why so low? The Democrats in Congress could not deliver on their promise to end the war. They lack the ability to override the president's veto. Same goes for the stem cell research funding. Finally Bush's plan for comprehensive immigration reform pleased no one.

Yes I did thanks for putting it out there.
I saw that on the news a little while ago ~ even the newspapers and TV stations have more than congress so what does that say about them?
One guy talked about how congress has to get away from this "Politically Correct War" and how they have to get realistic. You either go in and do like they did in WW II and get it over with or you pull out but this in between is causing alot of our soldiers to get killed because congress is always saying "go for it" and then they back step over and over again.
You can't be indecisive when it comes to war, you have to go in and handle it and get it done and over with but our wimpy congress won't let it be done the right way and many in society can't seem to get a grasp on what war is either.
Society and congress had best get a backbone so we can get things done over there and bring our people home. We'd be out of there if congress would quit interferring.
Yes Dreamin', I'm very aware that our government is at the all time low for most everything. We are poorly represented on all counts. You should run for an office, unfortunately, all your good intentions would succumb to the what the rest of the good-hearted newbies have fallen to. We all want good change, each gung-ho elective believes they will be able to work for and change, but it's all about the oil. I see your questions often and would like to see you use your energies used not only on this format, but others as well. You sound very passionate and pro-active. Most of the people have decided to be complacent. It's unfortunate, I know. Good luck to you.
