Can I leave US (for a short vacation) if my Green Card application has been submitted?

Note: I don't have a Green Card at the moment, but would like to know if I can leave the country on a short break, while my application has been submitted.

Answer:
Pay attention to Dustin. If you leave in the middle of applying for adjustment of status, the process automatically stops and is cancelled. You MUST apply for and have in hand an approved advance parole document in order to return to the US.

Here is how to apply:

no you cannot,, and the law just got tougher jan.1 st 2007,,, now you will need a passport to re enter the us from anywhere now . this is for security reasons,,, and that is good
As long as you have the I-485 filed you can go ahead and leave but only if you filed the I-131 and have gotten your Advance Parole Travel Document back. You MUST have this document before you can return.
NOOOOOOOOOOOO,if you don't want trouble don't live America without gree card
Yes you can
You can leave, but they will not let you come back! If you do not have Advance Parole, don't leave.
