Question Regarding B2 Visa and amount needed in the bank?

My gf just got denied her visa because she didn't have money in the bank. From my understanding since she doesn't have money I filed an affadavit of support for her which meant nothing to them. How much money should she have in the bank and Can I open an account in Mexico for the two of us or is that suspicious? Please tell me if that will work, ME OPENING A JOINT ACCOUNT WITH BOTH OF OUR NAMES, WITH APPROXIMATELY 5-6 THOUSAND DOLLARS IN IT. Will it work? Tell all details.

Answer:
Money is simply not the only thing. The visa officer will look for intent to return to home country after the B2 visa is over.
- Job, housing, relatives show intent to return to home country.
I think is suspicious that the money will suddenly appear in her bank account. And as somebody said she needs ties to her country.
You can try and put the money in the bank but that is no guarantee that she will get her visa.
