And I am not going into whether is it possible or not. It is impractical, unethical, and just plain wrong, for so many reasons.

I know when these anti illegal immigration people say "deport them all," they say it to, sort of, express how they feel about the issue but it's GETTING PRETTY OLD.

The common cry to "simply enforce our laws" might have made sense 20 years ago - but the concern presently is way beyond this simplistic statement.
The problem is complex - first off, we don't even know how many illegal immigrants are in this country, who they are or where they are. Secondly, many have started families, and their off spring are legal U.S. citizens. And, lastly, we don't even begin to have the means to carry out such a project - neither the manpower nor the bureaucracy. It is pretty evident that some kind of amnesty is inevitable if we are ever to document these people.
You are correct - the "deport them all" or "enforce the laws" argument is not only getting old, it's simply not a valid or viable solution for numerous reasons.
Hopefully, our representatives will go back to the drawing board and try and hash out a reasonable solution and not behave like a bunch of spoiled children who have been spanked by their constituents.
Obviously, the status quo can't continue. Permanent residents of any country must be citizens of that country - or, in my opinion, the country's unity and strength will be divided and eventually destroyed.

You're right, deportation will NEVER happen. However, securing our borders, NO AMNESTY and STRICT deportation law enforcement for alien criminals is a start.
Maybe the Federal government won't do anything about them, but like many good things that happen, the people will. Arizona, for example, just made a law that will freeze employment for illegals. When the jobs dry up, the illegals can deport themselves.
Back in 1954 they were saying the same thing about the 3 million illegals. We had 95%of them gone in a little over 30 days. Don't get too cocky their boy, I think you will be surprised at what we 'Americans can accomplish when we set our minds to something.
Lillian, look at a history book, your right they got everyone got booted out out...even American citizens that happened to have brown skin. Those Jim Crow boys didn't really care.
The reality is that if those people are motivated to stay, they will. They will marry, have kids, whatever it takes to have a better opportunity for themselves.
I don't believe that they will all ever be deported. Why should they all get a taxpayer paid trip home when they were all fully able to get here on their own steam, in the first place. No, I believe they should leave the same way they came in - on their own steam and at their own expense. In fact, I believe that the laws CAN be enforced fully and consistently and even if it takes 20 years, they can eventually be tracked down and rooted out and that if the laws are fully enforced and they cannot access jobs, free education, free medical care, welfare, residences, etc., many of them will have no other option but to leave on their own accord. I believe that it is possible when they are found to be using fake/stolen ID, to deport them and when they are picked up for criminal charges their residence status can be checked and if found to be here illegally, deport them. We should stop considering their children born here to be US citizens and they can take their children back with them when they go.
Frankly, the things pro-illegal immigrants spew are getting pretty tiring, too.
they said it will take billions on top of billions of dollars plus a 100 years to deport ALL the illegals. i don't see why they shouldnt be allowed to get right with the Law by paying a fine. how's paying a fine for an offense AMNESTY? my underage cousin got caught drinking, he got a citation and paid the fine is that Amnesty?
ICE does enforce the laws more than they did a few years ago. Of course, ICE agents are more reluctant to truly enforce the laws since 2 of them were sent away for 12 years for doing their job following de facto systems and procedures. Border control should not be a political football.
Obviously, you can't deport 12 to 20 million people because they hide well. You can deport most of them however by raiding their places of employment and getting the SSA more involved in corroboration.
If the SSA data doesn't corroborate a potential deportees story ,then fraud-falsification --ADIOS.

OK Mr. 407-96-8267, where did you work 3 years ago? Who did you work with? What was your supervisors name? How did you get to work? Describe the environment around the site where you worked.
Then get volunteers to verify the information by phone and in person..
I would personally volunteer to do this type of verification for free as a service to my country. Plus there are a lot of retirees that have paid verification/interview experience that would volunteer as a public service.
Each illegal immigrant cost the US taxpayer at least $10,000 each year they are here.
None of the above will work however until there is a more effective barrier at the border so they don't come back. Also, deportees should be sent to the southern part of Mexico (if they are Mexican)
I never say deport them all. I just say harsly punish anyone who hires them, make it impossible for them to work illegally and stop allowing social programs to illegals.
Then it wont matter. no job, no benefits they will leave on their own.
Clearly the "unethical" argument doesn't work. These people are criminals, and there is nothing unethical about dealing with such people in this manner.
Impractical... maybe. But given the disastrous consequences of having these criminals here... can we afford not to? Besides, there are some very simple ways to get them out... mainly eliminating the motivation for them to be here. If they can't steal from the American taxpayer and can't get a job, they'll leave. Problem solved.
What really is getting old is when the pro-crime people make pathetic excuses to try to validate, justify or extend these crimes. But at least you didn't resort to the "anybody who opposes crime is a racist" argument that so many of you pro-crime types do.
Well the deportation argument very easy to make but doesn't have any backing. When you find something you don't like I imagine its a pretty natural response to try and sweep it under the rug, push it away, or ignore it all together. I imagine they aren't working out a solution to deal with the problem past the "eek! its an illegal! deport it!" argument. Besides, I haven't heard anyone come up with any sort of plan that would allow one to forcibly remove a poor, hard-working, immigrant population from our country.

I didn't think so. So, why would "enforcing" our current laws now be a viable solution? Maybe we need a new law with new teeth and real penalties for employers along with border security? Just maybe.
