What does everyone think about this idea as a "long term fix" to the immigration problem ?
Answer:
We have a hard enough time taking care of our poor. Taking on 90 million poor Mexican's would absolutely overwhelm our infrastructure and financial resources. I do not see many advantages. The money going out to support their poor and to build-up there infrastructure would far exceed any tax revenue. I do not want to pay for that. Also, forcing Mexico to abide by our minimum wage and workplace laws would cause much of its current manufacturing to be moved someplace else, hurting their economy.
You would need to bring Mexico up to the USA's standard of living first for this to work. NAFTA has done some of this already, but there is still huge divisions between the have and have nots in Mexico (much worse than the US), so you still have a long way to go before they would be ready to become part of the US.
your braver then me.but i agree
If that country cant take care of itself, adding them would only create havoc on our social programs, completely bankrupt them.
ya ok. how about we also charge mexico all those back owed taxes we payed for illegals first, then allow them to join us?
I have always thought that.
The greatest benefit would be is not needing a stupid passport to visit a beautiful country.
You would be surprised how many Mexicans I am sure would rather their country be ran by the USA than by drug cartels.
They would be able to work, earn money , and stay with their families instead of leaving for years at a time.
Many wont agree, but those "non-racists" will tell you its not the Mexicans they are against. Its the illegals. Yet not realizing that if something liked that happened they wouldnt be "illegal" anymore.
Who would they rally against if that happened? What would be their next cause? Their next group to hate on?
I am sure you are being sarcastic, but I dont care. I think its a great idea!
But mr2, you have to think of the effects it would have on the people closest to the border, like myself. Crime would most likely skyrocket, if the whole bush thing happens first, then us middle-class taxpayers would become lower class before the mexican-turned-american citizens would pay the taxes, and who is to say that they would have the money to pay for them? Also, everyone would be playing the " they are being racist and they wont hire me just because i dont speak english" bit. I may not be the perfect contributor because i am only a teen and no one would listen to me...
all legal
I think is the other way around, Mexico is colonizing us one illegal at a time. Why do you think that Mexico has over 50 Mexico Consulars in the USA, ten in both California and Texas. Why would a state like Arkansas need a Mexican Consular to protect and serve the legal and illegal population.
In Mexico the wealth is control by 98% of the people, and the elite is exporting it's poverty to the USA with maps. So in about 25 years when the Mexicans have the majority we will become apart of Mexico
Well since you put it that way if you know your history Texas, use to belong to Mexico, and Texas, was also its own country at one time in history so making Mexico, the fifty first state is not as far fetched as you may think seeing that Texas, was a part of Mexico, back in the day.
It would be e great idea and save a lot of headaches at the border as well because we would not need a border anymore but you and I both know that is never going to happen and think about it they could have done it back in the day when Texas, was a part of Mexico, but who would envision we would be dealing with such a problem today right the old saying hind sight is twenty-twenty but it is a great thought.
