What do Presidential candidates think of the 'new deal' for immigration reform?
"Mitt Romney, another Republican presidential hopeful, issued a statement calling the plan “the wrong approach,” saying it conferred “a form of amnesty” on illegal immigrants. “That is unfair to the millions of people who have applied to legally immigrate to the U.S.,” the former Massachusetts governor said.
Former Republican Sen. Fred Thompson of Tennessee, who is weighing a presidential bid, said the measure should be scrapped in favor of one that secures the border.
“With this bill, the American people are going to think they are being sold the same bill of goods as before on border security,” Thompson said in a statement.
Democratic Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois said the compromise needs work.

i think it's a joke, it's a cover-up for amnesty, illegals will never pay the fines, i don't see them returning home for any amount of time, they will just ignore this if it passes and then what stay around here illegally until another plan is drawn up?? I've already contacted my states senators and thank god, they are voting no on this bill!!!
Anyone that supports changing the laws that have already been broken should be thrown out of consideration for the Presidency.
This is nothing short of selling out America and destroying the credibility of our legal system.
Enforce the laws - PERIOD! If they are illegal, take action on it. Don't cow down to them because there are so many of them. All the more reason to act.

Once they make a plan like this, there are all these loopholes that will come up. Whine whine, we can't afford these fines, whine whine, our head of household can't go back and reapply, we will be separated. So go home and whine illegals.
It will end up that they will be excused from having to do these things as well-pay the fines, and go back home and reapply. They will get out of it, you'll see.

I sent letters to all of my congressmen in Texas and Sen. Obama. Last but not least, Sen. Hutchinson in Texas told me she was supporting the bill. I asked her why would she when she has her constituents telling her not to do so. We have some arrogant people in Congress.
