Someone told me that if i withdraw my EU passport to irish gov i can get an irish passport is it true?

Plz,Plz can anyone help me with detailed answer plz someone told me that if i withdraw my EU passport to irish gov i can get an irish passport without spending five years

Answer:
I didn't think you could get an EU passport. The red passport is issued to every country that is a member of the EU and has the issuing countries emblem on the front. If you wished to get an Irish passport it would still be an EU passport but with an Irish emblem on the front.

To get an Irish passport you must be an Irish citizen. Unfortunately just handing over your passport if you are not an Irish citizen or holder of an Irish passport would not entitle you to an Irish passport
