Why do illegal immigrants need to sneak into the country instead of crossing at the border as tourists?
Answer:
Don't you have to have ID? And if you don't , I think you have to have a birth certificate. That would be why.
Well observed.
It's tradition.
Hmm, thats a very good idea. Maybe they dont want to wait on their passports. You know you need one now to go to Mexico and Canada. SO I assume the same to come to the usa.
Some of them may not have been upstanding citizens in their country. So coming to the usa may have landed them in jail. In other words they may have had trouble with the law and will get recognized if they come in as a tourist.
I'm sure a lot of them already do that. The problem is that when you enter a country as a tourist, the country has records of your id number and picture. If they enter a country and never leave, the government will have records of them entering the country and never leaving. Then possibly after a while, they may search for them, and if they find them, they go to jail :(
because then the govt knows you're there cuz you would have to apply for a passport
I think if you are a Mexican citizen, you have to have have your green card to get across.
My parents are Mexican and we went to Mexico last year. When we came back, they had to show their paper work and me and my sister just had to answer a few questions.
This might have just been for our family though, like a spontaneous questioning or something.
Oh yeah, and a friend of my dad's went to Mexico to visit his family and I asked him if he was illegal and he said no. He said if he was illegal, he wouldn't be able to get back to the US b/c he didn't have the proper paper work.
But I could be wrong, I don't know.
Because they're too stupid. And no Roo. They ask weird questions to everyone that passes the border.
Why can't rednecks (like morgan for example) get a job instead of watching nascar all day? Is it that exciting to watch cars go in circles that many times?
Won't let you in. It's not like defecting from a country, that's what it sounds like you mean at least. They will get turned away without documents and if they do cross, will get detained and brought back. Most cases of defecting that I know of is when the person is brought here for some reason and then refuses to go back, therefore rejecting the country they came from.

Because you close one eye and you open another eye
Hey Armando, the average NASCAR fan makes over $65k a year, there goes your half cocked theory.
Homework is your friend.
The main reason for most cases of people who just want to work and have no intention of smuggling anything in is that they don't meet all the requirements in place to even apply for a tourist visa. If they did meet all the requirementes, they wouldn't have the need to come work in the U.S. in the first place. For some of the people who aren't very well informed, you need to have property, a bank account and other things that most mexicans (and others) don't have the means of purchasing in the first place... that's why they come here.
Would that make them any less illegal? The point is, we have 20 million, creeping to that 21 million mark, living here illegally, some of them on expired visas. What really is the difference between me breaking into your house and staying forever, and me asking to borrow the phone and staying forever? Other than you have to fix your door or window if I beak in. Either way, I am where I don't belong. I just used different methods, since you did LET me in to use the phone. But the outcome is the same.
I am not sure why you endorse them coming in as a tourist and then staying forever.
American immigration allow some Mexicans to cross the border, to shop in border cities, the road out Has maned roadblocks by border patrol and it would be impossible for
any one without documentation to enter the country by driving in or by bus any one caught transporting undocumented, will be fined, face a jail term and have their car confiscated. I have driven the desert road from Rocky point ,Mexico to Tucson Az, I would always carry gallons of water in the car and leave it on paths for people to take if they needed Water . At times I would be stopped at 5 road blocks within 50 miles of the Mexican border, The same was true in Mexico, Mexicans troops would set up road blocks to search Americans vehicles for drugs and weapons.
That is very kind of you Daniel F. To leave water. I am sure it helped many people and must of been like striking gold wh en they found it. I hate to even look at the desert,I can't imagine trying to walk over it.
