Tom Tancredo suggested in the debate that we take a break from immigration. Do you agree?
Answer:
I do. Time for some catch-up. I'm not saying not to finish all that are patiently waiting in line. I say finish that and then there needs to be a breather. I know in this area we are a major dumping ground for refugees and people are not assimilating. I mean we're still waiting for 15 schools to be built just to handle what we have here. Our unemployment is 6.9% and growing. They can't build roads fast enough and even our basic utilities are prone to malfunction because our systems are so totally strained and just slapped up just to say it's done. It literally is chaos and that's on a good day. Too much of a good thing turns bad when it's in excess and it's past excess here. It is time for a breather and time for some calm and time for some assessments to see where we go from here.
We need loopholes tied shut, existing laws enforced and people working on the same page. Here we are in an OFFICIAL English state and we have towns now having votes on what language the town should be. We have immigrant women and children abused not getting help because so many don't realize it's illegal here. They say 45% of the people on our roads are driving illegally. Either on suspended licenses, no insurance or illegal and all the above. Gangs are on the rise. Identies are running free, just a host of problems and more people isn't the answer when we can't handle what we have.
Actually, I think that's a good idea. If we just take a break, we can deal with those who are here, deal with the borders, and get decent legislation passed. Then we can open the borders again.
YES! What a common sense idea. Senor Bush wants this to become mexico. We need to stop ALL immigration, shut down the border and take stock of what we have here.
I don't understand the thinking of the democrats and Bush, McCain, Kyl, and the rest of their stupid ilk. Common sense sure seems to be lacking there.
I would put Tancredo in the White House today, but Fred Thompson might have a better chance...
That is not fair to those that are already in the system. Now illegals of course should be deported. There in nothing in this new bill that will force them forward. There is nothing that says that we will not educate your kids after a certain date, not call immigration if you come into our emergency rooms after a certain date. There are many things we can do to discourage illegals and yet we do none of it.
I think we should take a break from ILLEGAL immigration.
And not let anymore in.
Well he's a day late and a dollar short. That is what the immigration reform is trying to do.Get them an electronic I D card so we know who is here.Hmmm could Tancredo just be allowing his voter base to THINK he's against the reform but in all reality be PRO Immigration Reform?I would think on that awhile if I were you.
YES ! I do agree. Something has to be done. I am not bashing people who came here legally. But something has to be done b/c it is effecting everyone in some way , whether they realize it or not.
Good idea!
Heck no, with all the animosity growing in the US between the 2 sides! If they were to hold off on immigration it would just make the problem bigger and worse! some kind of action needs to b taken from the inside before we can fix teh outside. We need to reform our policies and enforce laws now. the whole immigration issue has had a snowball effect and is bound to get bigger! Resent & hate is growing between Americans, illegals and politics. stoppin now would only worsen teh situation.
No.I think his views are too radical. Most people want legal immigration. He also said Maimi was a like third world country. He sure isn't going to win a lot of votes saying crap like that.
I totally agree!
I think we need a break and find out who we do have.
I was on a conference call last night with Duncan Hunter. He also has some really good ideas on illegal immigration. He is based out of the San Diego area. He helped with legislation that built the double fence on the border south of the San Diego area. I would also take a serious look at him and Tancredo.
Tancredo is very right about most things, but not this.
Let me get this straight -- the descendant of immigrants wants to stop new immigrants from coming to America? So he's basically saying, "Yeah I got mine...screw the rest of you."
I totally agree,it's good common sense.
