This land NEVER belonged to Mexico. That is some BS made up by the MEChA idiots who claim that the American Southwest was some mythical place called Aztlan.
The facts are this. The American indians were here first, no relation to the barbaric Aztecs who practiced human sacrafice. Spain gave this land to Mexico but it was not really theirs to give. Remember the Spainards took Mexico from the indians.
The native indians had their own ideas of who owned the Southwest and didn't really give a sh** about Mexico's supposed claim. Mexico never controlled the Southwest, the indians did.
The US fought Mexico over the Southwest territory and won, then PURCHASED the right to take it from the owners of record, the indians.
Now if you follow the logic, somehow the entire success of the US is tied to the acquisition of the Southwest. If the US hadn't purchased it away from Mexico, The US would be the cesspool and Mexico would be the paradise.
The only thing sinister that has occurred is the perpetuation of the Aztlan myth to the uneducated and gullible who are eager to believe that their lack of success is the fault of the US.and the fact that not only do we allow it but we subsidize it.

Anyways, yes Texas was once part of Mexico, but pre American natives lived in America first. From what I understand, the Spanish came to the southwest and Mexico areas and raped and pillaged their way to dominance.
Kind of in the same way the Europeans did in the rest of North America.
Now, I guess the Mexicans feel since they are the offspring of this rape and pillaging, they have a Natives right to that land.

To the lead poster: Mexicans are American Indian, most of them carry more Indian blood than those claiming rights to tribal lands in the US. Surely you knew that Comanche, Apache, Navajo, ect were all part of Mexico, and they are all Native American tribes and a good many of the Mexicans carry these indigenous blood lines.

What about the fact that "Native Americans" were here in the area called "America" and the Mexicans were south of America in Mexico. These "Indians" in America were NOT the Aztec and Mayas of South America and Mexico.
Based on this, why are the Mexicans saying that they are part of the "Native Americans" in America? The areas of America and Mexico are totally separate.

HISTORY & INFORMATION
The Southwest Native Americans come from the states of Arizona, New Mexico, Southern Colorado, and the northern part of Mexico. Most of the land is desert covered with cactus. The main tribes that come from the Southwest area are the Apache, Hopi, Navajo, Pueblo, & Zuni. Some tribes spoke their own languages, had their own religious customs, and laws they followed. Most of the Southwest Native Americans became farmers and lived in villages.
The Southwest Native Americans believe in that the 4th world is sacred. They believe the first people created in the cave below the surface of the earth climbed through two more caves with creatures until they reached the surface. They climbed through the hole called sipapu which is the hole humans were born from.
Not a bit like Aztlan spouting, is it?
