I recieved letters from various college stating that they cannot construct a financial aid package for me because they can't prove my citizenship using my social security number (I'm a neutralized citizen). How can I prove my citizenship since never took the time to apply for a passport? What documents can I give them?
I know that lots of info is stored in the SS, so how can I update my social security to show that I am a citizen?
Any suggestions or advice will be greatly appreciated!

A social security card is NOT Proof of American Citizenship. You can however, go directly to your closest SS office with your Naturalization certificate and what ever other proof you have, so they can update your records. You wont be able to do this over the phone. I'd also take these documents to your DMV so the driver licence records can also be updated.
Besides that you can mail in copies the certificate to the colleges so they can resume the process.
The only other proof of citizenship is a US birth paper and a US passport.
