I'm a US citizen and want to marry in Ecuador. What is the wait for a green card after getting married?

My girlfriend is peruvian but we live in ecuador. We want to know the waiting period for a greencard so she could have permanent residency in the U.S.

Answer:
About six weeks as long as she has no issues with her criminal background check.
Start the paperwork in the US Embassy. Then you will have to go and live in the USA and wait a long time (between 2 and 4 years to have a permanent residence) They will interview you and your wife separately in INS offices to be sure that you are really a couple. In what side of the bed you sleep, how do you make love, what do you like to eat, etc etc. Good luck, they are something...
The faster option is to get her a fiance Visa and get married here then apply for the green card after you get married.

If you get married out of the US it will delay your application. A fiance visa takes six months and six months to a year for a green card
I friend of mine just went through the process. She is mexican, married an American. It took 2 years. Sorry if this is disapointing. It may change in relation to the country of origin of the person requesting the green card.
I believe it is about 8 months. Good luck to you.
