Like any compromise, it will entirely please no one. The $5000 charge to naturalize an illegal alien seems excessive. But to provide a path to do so suits me fine. It is proper that it should be more difficult than for someone who arrived through the gate to get citizenship.
I think most americans don't realize (including me) what the actual situation is here. Sure two political sides are throwing ''facts'' around about statistics and numbers, but those can be manipulated in many ways. I for one don't think that politicians would sacrifice their pupularity with the american populace for strictly humanitarian reasons. So, this must be something that is beneficial economically. It is a tricky situation. Giving all illegals amnesty would be a huge strain on the system, but not giving it to them is also a huge strain on the system, so something intermediate needs to be done, and thats what seems to be happening. I think most americans also don't realize that if only the worlds most skilled workers were coming in, they'd be even worse off.
We already have laws to fine employers that hire illegal immigrants. Enforce it and you won't have to build a wall. I can't blame them for wanting a better future. Isn't that why most of us are here?
In fact, my grandfather was on the Texas side of the border and his brother was on the Mexican side. I've had three cousins come over .LEGALLY who own businesses. pay taxes, employ others and speak English!
Can you blame anyone for wanting a better life? Blame the businesses who hire them. AND if you that use the businesses that hire them too: you're part of the problem! Competitive prices are a **!
Years ago my Great-grandfather was in Texas produce. He threatened the INS with a gun for wanting to take his workers before the crop was in. Guess who won? The workers and the AMERICAN company.

Unless the immigration laws which are in effect at this time are followed, and it looks like the politicions which we elected to uphold said laws are so out of touch with us, their constituents, that they think our will is to make a deal, well then I think we need to restructure how the "will of the people" is defined in their job description when they take office! Of the People, By the People and For the people ? I'll get back to you on that.
I think they will not have to pay and get to stay here anyway. I think they will be able to claim low income or something and then taxpayers will pay their fines too, along with medicaid, wic, food stamps, and other low income benefits. I also think they will end up not having to go back to their country and do things right. They will claim that the head of household cannot possibly leave, how will the family then survive? whine whine whine...we are all sorry for them that came here thinking it was a free ride.
Anyone who aids in the invasion of his own country by hordes of foreign criminals is a traitor, and by definition every member of Congress who votes for this immigration deal is a traitor and should be punished as such.
