Why is it not possible or ..in USA.?

I've been on the internet for a few weeks trying to find work and live in the USA. Being a soon to be divorcee, it seems that no country would allow adult single females. One has to be between a certain age group or married with kids to be accepted. Are over 40 independent ladies not permitted? I was just wondering as I'm interested in living in the US. I'm from SA.

If you want a real practical solution for this issue then I'll suggest you get married to an American guy that opens the door for USA for you. Search for some guy on internet rather searching for employment, immigration & all there. Let me tell you if a person of any age who is unmarried, divorcee or widow/widower marries any citizen he or she get easy passage for that country, the immigration department will never refuse the green card to this person. Second case where a married couple goes to any country on any visa give birth to a child in the foreign country, automatically such a child born to them get the citizenship of that country, now the immigration department cannot refuse residence permit to these parents till the child reaches certain age may be 16years or 18 years, that period is good enough for the parents to get citizenship of the country they are in. Both these issues i.e. marriage & child birth are human issues any interference or obstruction by any government of any country amounts to infringement of Human Rights for which you know Human Rights people are so active in getting such inhuman action struck down in no time. I'm a practical man will talk of what ever seems practically easy & possible. Engaging lawyer for getting green card is only for those who don't apply common sense, that’s why lawyers is foreign counties like USA, UK etc are minting money & every website run by them will ask you to contact them & get thing done according to a given process which is longer & more expensive. The two ways I told you here are the best bet on which no chance of getting your immigration paper rejected. To add a humor to all this serious talk, I’ll suggest search out some very old, man who is billionaire & without any liabilities, get married to him, wait for few months or years & inherited & enjoy all his wealth by yourself when he is no more, this is only on lighter view, so you may or may not take it seriously. But getting to another country apply the formula of getting married to a man of that country. Give a serious thought to this.
It is hard to get in, period, but not more for females than for others. However, the work visas have mostly gone for the year. Are you in a country in the diversity lottery? It opens in October, and 50,000 are awarded each year.

Use the state department web site, though, there are a lot of scams.
I do not think most Americans have issues with independent women over 40, are you sure you are looking in the right places? Good Luck
I never heard of a restriction like that. I believe that it would be against the U.S. constitution also, because it would be discrimination. Same is true when it comes to ethnicity or faith.

The U.S. in not anymore the open country for immigration as it once was though.

A student visa is not an option for you I guess, unless you want to go to university at your age. I also assume that you are not special gifted or a genius like most of us.

Asylum is probably also not warranted unless you are living in a country where you have to fear for your life and well being because of oppression, hatred, racism etc.

What remains as options is either to get married to an American citizen or to find a company with offices in the United States that is willing to sponsor a work visa for you. There are annual caps on how many visas can be issued, but that's the way how I came to this country.

The last option is like a gamble. The Diversity Immigrant Program / Green Card Lottery. The good thing is that it is free and I have a friend who actually won his Green Card in this Lottery. Don't trust any service that charges you a fee to enter. Just visit the official U.S. website and do it there, free of charge.
in order to help you in this search , perhaps you should have mentionned your field of work or qualifications ?
as far as what you have said about the age limit and being single ? i have never heard that .
