Do you think Amnesty is the solution for the illegal immigration issue?

I don't. The amnesty permanently added millions of poor to our society. An Immigration and Naturalization Service study found that after ten years in the United States, the average amnestied illegal alien had only a seventh grade education and an annual salary of less than $9,000 a year. Unlike immigrants with a sponsor who guarantees they will not become a burden on the public, when Congress enacts an amnesty, it makes the American public financially responsible for those amnestied. The cost of amnesties to the American taxpayer is staggering. According to a study by the Center for Immigration Studies, the total net cost of the IRCA amnesty (the direct and indirect costs of services and benefits to the ex-illegal aliens, minus their tax contributions) after ten years comes to over $78 billion. Amnesty has set a dangerous precedent.

Answer:
HECK NO!

Jeff - great answer!

I for one would like to see our borders secured ASAP and every illegal deported immediately.

Every business found employing these criminals should be turned over to the government for liquidation and the proceeds returned to the American people.

The anchor baby law needs to be repealed as well. We are the only country that immediately grants citizenship to a child born on American soil.

Clear, tough laws will stop this invasion very, very quickly. Amnesty and a 600-page bill with new laws won't get it done. It'll only make it worse...
There are two types of illegal immigrants:

Those who overstayed their welcome (expired visa)
Those who were never welcome in the first place (no visa)

For those who have an expired visa, they should be deported.

For those who have no visa, and therefore no business in the country, they should be shot, as if they were part of an invading army.
I don't think amesity is the solution. I think building fences will be worthwhile in the long run.because its the mexicans who are profiting not US. for the love of US build the fence!!
ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!
The answer to the illegal immigration problem is actually enforcing the existing laws that we have. We could start by securing our borders and punishing any company that hires illegals. I suggest harsh, mandatory jail sentences for offenders as well as heavy fines. No amnesty for the people that are here. We can deport them as they turn up. We should not be subsidizing Mexico by allowing this situation to continue. I am all for legal immigration. Let them get in line and come. And for those of you that think I am being harsh, I suggest you check out how the Mexican government treats illegal immigrants.
There are very few Americans that aren't related to illegals that support amnesty. The President and Congress are failing us.

I disagree with shooting them like my friends above, but what kind of Democracy do we have if the People all want the same thing and the Gov't is deciding against it? What is their reasoning? I don't know what either side is getting out of this thing.
Absolutely not.

This bill is just an easy way to cover up the government not doing its job in the first place. They would rather sweep it under the rug than deal with their responsibilities.

Vote out anyone who supports this.
NO! Militias are. Back in the 50s there was a movement were America took up arms against illegals. That will work.
no.
Thumbs up for Jeff. The sentiment against illegals couldn't have been expressed better. I don't feel sorry for the criminal illegal vermin whining for amnesty. Send the trash back to the garbage dump they came from.
Amnesty is an invitation for people to come to America to sponge off of this country and bash it at the same time.
I agree with you. Those who want to gain legal status need to come here legally, and it should be based on what they can do for American society, not what we as taxpayers can do for them. I understand their reason for coming here, but that is not going to fix the ultimate root cause (their country). If that is not fixed, then nothing will be fixed.

I just believe in the saying, it's not what America can do for us, it is what we can do for America." I interpret this quote to this particular situation by legalizing citizens who wait and come here, have an education, and will ultimately benefit American society (the merit system that is not in place)--not by costing us taxpayers billions of dollars in benefits that we have already paid for.
NO!!
it will bankrupt us...well, we are already heading for that, but...it will cause it to come sooner
No...deport all illegals!
NO!! It did not work before it wont work now. Closing the borders & enforcing our laws is all that will help stop these invasions.
Amnesty means TOTAL forgiveness...no fines,ect... Please get that straight. Immigrants legal or not pay taxes via their employer...STOP scapegoating!!!
Hi everybody. I want you to know my point of view from the other side of the problem. I know some people who has not the legal documents in order to stay in the US; however, they are paying their taxes and working hard in order to get ahead as any of you does day after day. Besides, they get low payments, they do the work that most of you do not want to do and work more hours weekly than any of you. Are they giving something to America? I think so, the US economy has grown thanks to those guys also.

However, there are some immigrants that are not good neither for the American society nor for any society. They should go out of America indeed. I think each case must be studied and not to talk about the illegal immigrants as if all they were nocive for America.

I want you understand that you can not forget that the social problems of US are not because of the immigrants (drogadiction, alcoholism, family problems, murders) according to the last stadistic the best country for living is Norway and the States is the number "96" among 121. you know why? because is one of the more violent and discriminatories countries around the world! I think you guys should look forward to solve your deep social problems rather to be thinking about the race, language or even religion of the immigrants. They are doing a lot for US, believe it or not.

PS: I'm not and I do not want to immigrate to the United States. The way of thinking of you guys about people who is different from you is so poor. You should learn of countries as Canada and some from Europe.
No- I think in the long run amnesty will cost us far more than 1 time deportation and the building of the wall.
