Should each state be allowed to have it's own immigration laws?

Answer:
You know, some time I need to look into why people suddenly think it is a federal issue. The constitution didn't even ALLOW the feds to expell 'dangerous aliens' until the 1800s, and the states held ALL rights over aliens in their states up to that point. But I don't know that would be a benefit because then we'd have 'sanctuary states' , etc.
The first thing that came to my mind was that it wouldnt do anything because people would just get in through the more lenient states.
No, I think it's something that should be dealt with on a National level. States do have their own laws though that prevent illegals from using state funding and they should have that right.
Yes, because it is clear that the feds are incompetent fools.
No.

Entry into the country is a federal issue, not a state's issue.
Not unless you then set up an immigration queue at EVERY state line.
No. Can you imagine the mess if a person moved to another state and have to go through a different process again? It would take too long and too much of taxpayers money.
Yes.
Yes , but the Federal Government needs to secure the borders to protect the USA .

CLOSE the BORDERS , NOW !!!
each state has it's own laws. it is up to the gov to enforce laws. we need to make them enforce the law.
No this would be almost impossible to enforce because how do you keep someone from moving to a certain state. They could just become "legal" in a state with more lenient laws and then move to any other state. Would we have Border Patrol at each state line to make sure who was moving in and out of each state??
No way.

I am in favor of letting states do more to enforce the current laws though.
I think that actual immigration, that is, entering the country, should be controlled only by the fed. But I also think that states and local governments have the right to make additional requirements and laws on some issues. If a town, for example wants to ban rentals to non-citizens then it should be able to do that, especially as the fed is unwilling or unable to enforce the federal immigration laws.

So the fed should control entry but the states and towns should be able to further regulate immigrants. In no case should states be able to have LESS strict laws.
Yes, but the federal govt. would have to help deport the illegals as they are caught. I think they are just to lazy, and we know Bush wont enforce the laws of this country.
If the Feds are going to muck around and do nothing then I think we should be able to have state laws for illegals. I'm so proud of Oklahoma for standing up on this issue! I don't know if my state is courageous enough to do that but I'd consider moving to a state that wants laws to be obeyed and won't foster groups of illegals! No one wants to live in gangland but the ganglanders themselves. I also don't want my future destroyed by bloodsucking illegals who have no right to my SS. Maybe SS can become a state ruled fund, too. I think George would give it all to Iraq or Mexico or Albania if they asked for it. Not to forget welfare being abused to the hilt, I'm so tired of all of this conflict, why can't we just enforce the laws we already have? But three cheers to Oklahoma!
I know that my city/state has taken it upon itself to enforce a new law that fines employers and removes their license to operate if they are found to have anyone who is not legal working at their facility. This has really been a good thing. You should see all of the new job opportunities listed in the local newspaper lately. Not just general positions, but professional positions and skilled positions as well. We have started taking matters in our own hands and hopefully others will follow soon.
