HELL NO! It should be a lot more! does anybody realize how many millions of dollars they steal every year in taxes? In Cochise County, Arizona, they had to shutdown 90% of medical services, because they couldn't get paid!

No. They should have to pay for everything that they took advantage of, like free medical care. it should be like re-paying a loan.
Well, if they can make payments it would be easier.But if they are expected to make a full payment, its going to be very hard for them, hell, it would be hard for me.I don't think its reasonable, because most of these people are poor.When people say this is amnesty, I think its a joke.Amnesty is a pardon, since when does someone pay a fine when they were pardoned?
Leaving the country should be the focus, not the fine. If people couldn't afford the fees to come in legally, what makes Washington think that they can pay these new fines? It'll just keep people underground, and solve nothing. Maybe a better solution would be to allow legal immigrants to make a deposit, of say, $500, and once they get here, make regular payments over the next 3-5 years to pay the immigration fees in full. That would make more sense, more possible, and encourage people to do things the right way.
Shouldn't be any deal, they should be lucky its anything other than just get out!
I think it's reasonable with a payment plan. Without a payment plan option, I think it's going to be too much for most immigrants and that's going to creat further problems.

It should be more than that , they funnel that in one doctors visit. If they are educated and can contribute and get a good job 5000.00 is too small a price to pay. If it is too much to pay then they obviously are not needed. God i hate this country some time .
By the way, to the person who suggested witholding their tax refund until it is paid...how can they get a refund when they claim 20 dependants even if they only had 2 kids? They owe money , they get nothing back usually. They like to work tax free and then go back , get another s.s. number and start over again.
No fine at all. Go home and ask permission to come back. Its a slap in the face for the ones that tried to come in legally, asked permission. The borders are being closed for them while the ones that broke the rules get to stay if they cough up a little dough.
I have a basic problem with it altogether. But if it is going to exist it needs to be reasonable - I'd say quadruple it and make them show proof they are paying taxes, have car insurance, drivers licenses, and are enrolled in English classes.
I don't think it's enough because it costs ones that come here legally alot more. If they can scrape 2000 or more up for a coyote and if they send BILLIONS back to Mexico every year..they can get the 5000. Heck my realestate taxes are that much after the huge increase because of all the schools needed to be built here because of the huge influx of illegals and I'm living at poverty level income. I don't pay it and I loose my house and I haven't even broken any laws. They let me have the thrill of seperating it into 2 payments within a 6 month period and they don't care if I can afford it or not.

Its a steal ! I have my own business, in the construction field, and I have seen and experienced first hand the loss of jobs that has ocurred from illegals. I have lost bids on jobs I would normally have gotton because I do not use illegal labor like my competitors. Which by the way , are immigrants. Ever since the boom in illegals here in NC (which rose around 400 percent) within three yrs I lost half my business. I travel to do work all up and down the east coast. Since Ido things the legal way and I pay the for liscenses and workers comp liabilty business insurances etc . I watch as the illegals do not pay . For example just the drywall contracts alone run into 50 thousand or more, The one that is legal runs the company,in turn hires illegals to do the work. The pay scale is not small, his guys make 10 to 15 dollars an hr CASH and averages of 70 hrs or more a week..no tax or nothing! Meanwhile the owner of the business charges 30 an hr for the labor per man hr. I know because I compete with them. I have to charge lower to get the jobs. Ive seen this time and again over the past five yrs or more . Add the fact that they get subsidized rent .free food , almost free medical etc.. Id say what a bargain!
