How long can you live in another country without a visa however i do have a passport ,,,,how long?

i am just planning to stay in another country for at least 5 and a half months

do i need a green cardd to go for 5 and a half months?

Answer:
Passport and visa are two different things. Having a passport doesn't entitle you to staying for a longer period of time in another country. Passport is a travel document that confirms your citizenship and entitles you to an entry to a country that doesn't require a visa from an American citizen (Canada, for example).
Each country has its own laws and regulations regarding visitors and visas. Those regulations determine how long you can stay (with or without a visa). You should check with an embassy or a consulate of the country you are going to. Find their website, most countries post visa requirements for visitors.
By the way, green card is only an American document for foreigners.
It depends on both your type of passport and on the country u planning to stay in. Your best bet is to call the embassy of the country where u planning to go and ask them. This way you know for sure what u need to do to have a legal status during ur stay.
all depends on the country - each one has different rules.
contact that country's embassy or consulate
