Can any of you AMERICANS tell me if you know what it the difference between migrant and immigrant?

And which citizens are illegal in your country name a few countries...You speak all so general about them all the time i felt like i am on some kind of new immigration website with new laws and regulation .I am from EU and did not see any EU member complaining here and we have a lots of migrants and immigrants..They arent all so bad at the end of the day they are HUMAN BEINGS...IN SOME OF THE COMMENTS YOU DESCRIBE THEM AS ANIMALS...I am POSITIVE many of you acctually have friends immigrants or migrants.Tell us about your friend something thats worth reading.or not.

Answer:
I know the difference between migration and immigration, just as you do...
The problem is that people come here illegally and feed off our system and have an entitlement mentality.
Illegals don't try to assimilate to the country, but expect us to pander to what they want.
I have a problem with illegal immigration because I have to pay $600 plus a month to send my son to a private school because the public schools accommodate to non-English speakers, as well as, pay taxes to the public schools.
I have a problem with paying a ridiculous amount of rent in an area that should be half that amount...
I have a problem going to a clinic or emergency room and either not having really anybody that can speak English or having to wait an unrealistic amount of time because illegals run to the emergency room any time there is a problem...
These are just a few to be sure..
I do have legal friends from different countries..
I have never described them as animals...
I just don't think that they should be able to come here, demand rights, drop out babies by the dozen that automatically become citizens, and put my country and myself farther into debt.
yet i see France planning to deport illegal aliens?

we AMERICANS got no issue with migrants or immigrants Come legally or stay home!!
Migrants=Legal, pay taxes, contribute to the system.
Ilegal=pay no taxes, drain the system, use our Welfare system without contributing.

If you want them, please by all means come get them..
As usual, you lack distinction between legal immigrants and illegal immigrants.
Immigrants are people who move from one country to another for purposes to settle. I migrant is one who moves from location to location usually moving with seasonal labor.
Migrants are temporary, immigrants relocate permanently, they change their country. What we have here in the US are illegal aliens. People who have allegiance to their home country but sneak in here to suck our resources dry. Apparently you haven't been listening to the folks in the UK. They are as unhappy with their illegals as are.
A migrant is someone who travels to other countries for work and an immigrant is someone who intentionally moves to another country ( hopefully legally)
That's funny.

"Can any of you AMERICANS tell me if you know what it the difference between migrant and immigrant?" Followed by "You speak all so general about them all the time.." Um...try not to attack generalizations with generalizations. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

YOU are not here, and you likely only know what your media outlet wants you to know - which is rarely any version of the truth. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LEGAL AND ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS, but you are right, no one is an animal. Most of us do have a problem with illegal immigrants - your country does too. There are many logical, rational reasons to fight illegal immigration, perhaps you should review these so you have a well-rounded, unbias knowledge pool when you think of this subject. Yes, I know the difference between migrant and immigrant.do you have a point? Don't oversimplify something because you don't agree with it. It is a safe bet you do not have all the facts, and if you are in the EU you definitely don't have the first hand experience to have the apparent frustration on this matter that you do.

ADD: Hey Petey - I know quite a bit about the EU, though I admit not from living experience. The majority of my vendors and customers live there, and this is a topic of conversation that comes up often. I don't understand why you are addressing me and my "sounding all smart" rather than contributing your thoughts to the question. Immigrants provide every country with pros and cons. If you are implying the EU does not have and enforce laws regarding illegal immigrants...well, then perhaps you should spend less time responding to my answer and more time educating yourself on the matter. You should also refer to another poster's answer regarding the laws of Mexico - he is very much correct. Did you have a point or did you just want to show off your moronic thought process?
A migrant is someone who leaves his or her permanent home, typically for farm work, and usually for a season, eventually returning home.

An immigrant is someone who has moved permanently into a country not of his or her own origin.

Illegal immigrant is someone who has entered the country without our knowledge and against our laws.

Have you paid attention? I have read lots of comments on here from countries who are part of the EU deporting and have read some comments that make most of ours sound tame in comparison.
Enforce Immigration Laws!

1. If you migrate to this county, you must speak the native language
2. You have to be a professional or an investor. No unskilled workers allowed.
3. There will be no special bilingual programs in the schools, no special ballots for elections, all government business will be conducted in our language.
4. Foreigners will NOT have the right to vote no matter how long they are here.
5 Foreigners will NEVER be able to hold political office.
6. Foreigners will not be a burden to the taxpayers. No welfare, no food stamps, no health care, or other government assistance programs.
7. Foreigners can invest in this country, but it must be an amount equal to 40,000 times the daily minimum wage.
8. If foreigners do come and want to buy land that will be okay, BUT options will be restricted. You are not allowed waterfront property. That is reserved for citizens naturally born into this country.
9. Foreigners may not protest; no demonstrations, no waving a foreign flag, no political organizing, no bad-mouthing our president or his policies, if you do you will be sent home.
10. If you do come to this country illegally, you will be hunted down and sent straight to jail.

Harsh, you say?
The above laws happen to be the Immigration laws of Mexico!

No to Bush,Kennedy and McCain!
Adopt the laws of Mexico - Enforce our laws!!

Wow--- economics and education in general must be in short supply in EU!! Get a clue!! in '92 they gave amnesty to 8 million now it is 20 million more --that must mean it doesn't work! Fran is right on the money!!
So nice to field a comment from liberal Bozoland as it were.
You didn't say if you are from Jolly former England where over 1000 Mosques crowd the London landscape and 1000s of Muslims pray in businesses during the day.
Perhaps you are from France where 3000 Muslim families were paid to return to Algiers, etc.
Or Germany where Jewish Senogogues are burned by skinheads and Muslims or Kosovo where the Muslims have taken over and torched quite secretly ancient churches.
Let me ask you this. Have you asked your OWN countrymen what THEY have against illegal aliens, and why your government and citizens want to deport them? Why do you have to stretch your unwanted opinion and questions all the way across the Atlantic Ocean to debate or ask questions about problems about our country that you also have there (illegal immigrants)?????
Yes, I agree. I think we would all be interested to hear how Europeans feel about this. I am sure you attempted to answer this question from within your own country or continent right?? Did you receive unsatisfactory answers so you felt you had to get the opinions of AMERICANS?
If you don't want to "get attacked", don't attack others first. People are only reacting to your insensitive and insulting comments.
Generally, a migrant is someone who enters a country for a season or period of time, such as a farm worker to pick ripe apples, and plans to return home. They usually have proper paperwork because the employeer has requested that they come for that season or period of time. An immigrant wants to establish a new life and remain in the country they have immigrated to. An illegal immigrant is someone who crosses a country's border without proper authorization and may or may not plan to stay permanently.
hey kentucky girl redneck, actually in the EU they need immigrants to keep the economy up because like here in America the baby-boomers are dying and they need people to work.

its funny how you try to sound all smart but obviously you dont know crap about the EU so dont talk like you know anything about it
An Immigrant is a person who comes into a country not his/her native country to establish residence.A Migrant moves regularly from place to place within the borders of a country. If you came into my country illegally, that makes you a criminal with the first step you took over my border. If I should attempt to enter your former country without proper paperwork, would your government give me a welfare check and food vouchers every month, free medical treatment, allow me to work without paying taxes?I do NOT think so!
