I would like to find out if me and my parents can go to USA from Canada with the permanent resident card?

i am from Windsor and would like just to visit USA a couple of houres , i've heard that is posible to go just with the permnent resident card and i would like o be sure ,and if is not posible , how long it take and what exactly i have to do to receive a visa?

Answer:
USA just past a law requiring a Passport.
if you and your parents have a permanent resident card issued by the USA and live in canada you could be in danger of losing your permanent resident status, unless it is designated as a "Commuter Card". permanent resident cards are issued so that foreigners can reside in the US permanently. inother words it is a permanent visa.
You're going to need a passport. If not now, then very soon. If I'm not mistaken, EVERYONE, regardless of their country of origin, will have to have a passport to enter the US. I believe this takes effect next year.
