If there were no illegals, but legals immigrants?
There are hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants. If they were all legal I can guarantee everyone that people would still be complaining about mexicans, or puerto ricans ect.
What I'm trying to say is that people complain and they always point out the 'illegal' factor. Also for some odd reason they think all illegals immigrants crossed the border. I sure didn't and I'm illegal.
Americans would still complain about jobs being takes, and that some don't learn english or that they have different cultures. Trust me they'll come up with something.
Anyways I'm willing to become an American. lol I don't even like tacos, and I have been speaking english pretty much all my life. I want to go to college like everyone else. I just want an opportunity.
Answer:
If it were up to me, you could stay here as long as you liked and be eligible for US citizenship. Americans should want to have people in this country like you who are happy to be here - people who have assimilated and have career ambitions. Legal or illegal, those are the immigrants we should want. And yeah, I think the anti-'illegal' immigrant folks hide behind the law because they have a larger problem with uncontrolled numbers of immigrants coming into the United States.
if all the illegal immigrants were legal. there would not be so many of them since US has limitation on number of visas per year. so yea there would be no one complaining about jobs or mexicans
all we ask is that they go home and apply for citizenship like everyone else. why should they jump to the front of the line when there are people who have been waiting patiently to do it the right way.
if they were all legal, they would all be paying taxes, and america would be a better place.
Well, you need to be deported, and I really do not care if you want illegal opportunity or not, just start selling drugs, at colleges. And maybe take a class on how to become legal, and then when you really figure out the whole process of it all, then maybe you will get some of your figures right it is not thousands, but millions. Hopefully you will lose your job, or at least work really hard for the pathetic wage you are being paid.
As one of the people who think deporting tens of millions of illegal aliens is impractical and impossible, I have no problem with people like yourself who are hear for a better life.
For some people, the issue of legality is paramount. They are not the majority though. For a large percentage of the antis, they view this as some cultural crusade when most illegal aliens are not waging a cultural war. Most illegals are here because they disliked the culture they left. For these people, the illegal status is a cover for other their real motives.
If you follow the guidelines and laws set up to get into the country then I can't see why someone would complain. However, when someone arrives and doesn't have the rights to a job, to healthcare, to benefits, but feels it is there right, then yes I can see why people get annoyed.
Some racist will complain and find reasons to hate no matter what.
Most of us though would be done arguing because if all the immigrants came legally, them they would come in numbers our society is equipped to deal with.
Our services and resources would be used at a rate they could be managed and replaced by the new people. When the amount coming in is managed, the amount of needed resources can be managed.
Also, the majority of the ones who come here legally respect our nation and are here to contribute.
They do not come with envy and attempt to take what we have created and is ours because they can not have a decent life based on their own skills. The ones who come legally have skills they wish to contribute and keep on helping their new country become better.
They do not wish to use what we have until they destroy us and create the same cesspools they fled in the first place.
If our immigration laws were being followed, there would not be as many immigrants in America at this time, so there would be a lot less 'job loss' to complain about.
Someone will always do it, though. Some people complain about H1B visas, because they like the fact that thier proffession is demanding and difficult to prepare for and thus demands a high salary, and they don't want the competition, even though they're employed and jobs are going begging. People complain constantly about jobs being 'shipped overseas' due to increased imports or offshoring. Union members complain about non-union workers.
There's always someone willing to complain about someone else 'taking' his job.
You just don't have much cause to complain if it's all being done legally. If another American, a legal resident, or a foriegner living in another country out-compete you, you can complain all you want, but it happened legally.
Illegals - and thier employers, OTOH - /do/ break the law.
If they were to complain about legal immigrants, then they should also go back from where they came from, because the real americans are the native, and lots of "ilegal" immigrants do pay taxes and don't have healthcare and they don't get the same benefits as a legal person. So they are not screwing the country.
Ms L.A - How can you assume that me or my parents are illegal?? like you my ancestors came here, if thats illegal than you are also illegal, and yes I would give thanks to my parents for giving me moral values like that all people are equal no matter what?? can you give thanks to your parents for that??
Then we would complain about the insane rate of immigration that does not protect our schools, and the legal immigrants would be right in there with us complaining, too. The only difference is the immigrants would not be to blame, only the government.
There would be millions fewer in my kids' school system (which is overcrowded with year round schedules and teachers on emergency certificates) if only the legal limit had come. So I assume you mean what if the limit had been high enough to create these huge problems for our schools and services, and that is the question I answered.
The fact is, the reason we have limits is to protect our services, wages and lifestyle with an immigration rate that is acceptable and assimilatable. Our legal rate is higher than the amount allowed by any other country in the world. More is too much.
There are no native Americans although we call American Indians native. But you must be here legally. You can thank your parents for making you an illegal and in this awful position you are in now.
