How do i get a Passport with my alien resident card?

I have a resident alien card and I want to travel outside the US. How do I go about getting a passport? Can I get a US one or does it need to be from Poland, where I was born?

Answer:
You are not an American citizen and can't have an American passport. You need to get your passport from your country of citizenship (Poland) You entered US with a passport right?! So you might need to renew it or get a new one in case you've lost it. In any case you need to contact Poland Embassy and ask for advice. Usually embassies offer such services as issuing or renewal of passports to their citizens. You will need both passport and Green Card to return to the US.
Here is a link to Poland Embassy in Washington DC. Hope you find it helpful:

It has to be from Poland. You can't get an American passport if you're not an American citizen.
Passports are proof of citizenship - yours has to be Polish (or EU?).
You need to go to the Polish embassy in the USA and apply for your Polish Passport.
US Passport is only issued to a US citizen, so you will have to get a passport from your home country
from poland
