Why is it ok to advertise "Brown Pride" but not "White Pride"?

I personally don't think its okay either way. Especially in areas here in LA where latinos dominate, "Brown Pride" in the wrong context, can be taken as an assertion of dominance rather than ethic pride. Moreover, this consolidation of races by some distinct color is a superficial, purely American categorization of perceived ethnic divisions. We are creating our own ethnic rivalries here as if we were warring faction in other parts of the world. It certainly is not okay, and is ignorant and uninformed for people to groups themselves in this fashion.
Are all whites of the same ancestry? All blacks? Are all Asians just another chinese person to most? Are all Brown people Latino? Are all Latinos brown? Certainly and unequivocally - no!!
Latino means people of latin america here...and this ranges from people who can be very white to people who are very dark. Interestingly, in Europe, something that is of Latin origin is typically Italian. If there were "Brown pride" in Asia means being part of a grouping of at least a billion people, from India, Pakistan, or Sri Lanka. In essence these colors and these categories we use here are nothing but empty words we all fight over.
As soon as we here in American realize that there are hundreds and more likely thousands of ethnicities, we can realize that it is more important to be a citizen of the world than belong to one distinct ethnicity. Its fine to be prideful, but not at the expense of others. Irish-American pride or German-American pride is much more desirable to white pride, as Guatemalan-American pride (and waving the American flag, not the Guatemalan flag of all things) is much more desireable than the artificial ethnicities we made for ourselves here.
It's not O.K. It's all about political correctness, which is going to be the ruin of this nation.
does that also mean that whites in LA county get preferential hiring treatment or get first crack at in state schools?

White pride is associated with hating other groups that's why. You can't because your ancestors ruined it. They were proud to be white and they hated other groups. Blame them.
If I was in a room full of whites and I screamed black pride, i would not be well received. The same thing goes for if you were in a room full of blacks and screamed white pride.
Groups advertising pride in every case but whites are proud to be in that group for overcoming something. Something they weren't allowed to have that others were because of the color or their skin. What can't white people have? What can't you do? The only thing you can't do is get a slave now.
Seriously, you turn on the tv and there's a white person on every channel except cartoon network and BET. Then, you have the audacity to complain aboutus having 1 channel. 1 channel so our people can see shows that we like and see people that look like us. 1 channel that gives us news on subjects that interests us.
You guys want to tell us we take your jobs when you know good as well that not 1 black has ever taken your job. If you have a college degree it will almost never happen, as blacks only make up 12% of the country. More than half don't go to college so that takes you down to about 5% of the nation. Less than half of those finish, so that takes you down to about 1.5%. Now take away the kids and retired folks and what do you have left? About .1% of the nation are black professionals that could possibly take your job.
It's called double standards and i'm quite sick of it.

If one ethnic group can do it without criticism, ALL should be allowed to do it without criticism. Why is everybody except "whites" allowed to be proud of their ethnic group??

Well, it's society thing. For so long the white population ruled everything, and suppressed everyone else in general. So to hear something like white power is a real slap in the face to a lot of people. Plus that's what the supremacists and KKK say.

The term "White Pride" was corrupted by its use in groups like the KKK and the Skinheads. What has happened is that we as a Country have become complacent and way too politically correct. You have a poster to this question that screams "brown pride" all day every day, and that's okay. So to answer you, forgetting the history of the term, I guess it's okay as well to use it in this venue. Just my opinion...

Its like the swastika. it wasn't originally a racist symbol, it was used by the Hindus, the Maya, the Chinese, American Indians (or natives if you prefer). Even the Jews used it (evidence can be found in Juedo-Spaniard artwork) and then your buddy Adolf came along and adopted it as the symbol for the Reich because of the fact that it was the most important and powerful of all symbols on Earth (symbol for motion and good fortune). Now its ruined and equated with hatred. Even outlawed in some countries, such as Germany.
Not to mention that Anglos have historically destroyed every other culture they have encroached upon. This is the way your white lawmakers and those that set the standards condescend and appease the other races that they know will eventually devour them. i dont know why people have to go overboard with the whole brown pride white power stuff, not the debate, but it as a whole, i think its great one has pride for oneself but to hate other groups? even kill just because one doesnt like the other color? thats not what this country is about

i think the main issue is inferiority. its ok for other races to express their pride, because they really are just saying "im equal" or "im american". Im sure everyone has their own obstacles in life, but i just feel blacks, hispanics and asians may have it just a little bit harder... And im not speaking on every individual of the three races, but depending on where you live or work, i think it is a little harder. We all may have a little racism in all of us but there is no question that even though so many things have been done to promote diversity, whites are still majority and in my opinion, it is a "white" country. When these races express there pride by saying "brown power" or "black power" it usually isnt to down play any other race but just to show that we arent embarrassed of where we are from or what race we are. My grandmother was living during the civil war so im sure there are many other people still living that experienced or felt hate from another race. Race is still a sensitive subject and im sure if those "Brown Pride" sayings were negatively associated with America, it wouldnt be allright to say such things. Im sorry but if i were to drive down a street and hear a group of white people chanting " white pride", i would get nervous, but if i were to drive and hear any other race doing the same thing, i would appreciate it. But i am black and and sorry for having such a long answer but i think the answer is because hate isnt associated with these sayings. Im not sure how people will take this message but i love white people to death... i dont hate any race. and im sure that there are some individuals that do put hate behind their pride... those, i cant speak for... they are ignorant assholes... but anyway, the pride parades and things of that nature is just an expression of a sense of equality and bringing the native culture inside of the american culture, which should be ok without people getting upset.
The white is so diluted coming from so many different countries. What exactly would we celebrate. I believe that white people shout get involved in these celebrations. We need to become one. I am tired of people saying an African American athlete who has made and comes from a poor neighborhood should be responsible to go back and help. Maybe they should, but doesn't that thinking separate us. Poor neighborhoods are everybodys responsibility. Black history month should be celebrated by all. We need to seek to understand each other rather than look for more ways in which we are different. We need to face facts. We (white men) have held down so many people for so long and the list keeps growing. What is to be so proud of. Start today to put this country right and maybe in the future we'll have something to look back on and be happy about.
It is terrible that white people who have done so much for this country aren't even allowed to be proud of who they are.
