nop you can not. because i am cubano and i speak spanish. and when i said viva cuba or i bring a cuban shirt they dont said nothing. look well almost all cubans speak english on street except miami.

Its not so much to single one out . Its observing the many who wish to come here start businesses, buy homes and not even learn the language and yet want accessibility for everyone and everything to be in Spanish .
That's a crock, They come to this country for a better life, its imperative to learn the language.
Food for thought: When my family came here from Italy before the great depression, they fervently tried to learn English and speak it exclusively except for in their home. There was good reason for this. Its called respect for the country that harbors you. There is nothing wrong with pride in your ancestry but it goes beyond language.
My ancestors, along with many others, would never fly a flag from another country or speak another language in public because it is disrespectful. But this is what is wrong with society. You are so precocious in stating that people stare at you thinking your an illegal immigrant because you speak Spanish in public. Maybe the stares stem from the fact that you are being disrespectful? Possibly you should try to assimilate to the culture which you family have tried so hard to include you in.
Illegals have a distinct look to me. Their mannerism gives them away. I know many Spanish speaking people who are neither illegal nor even Mexican. We also assume that all illegals are Spanish speakers but many are Chinese and or other Asian languages or even German or Russian speakers. I agree, why just Spanish speakers anyway. We shouldn't forget that the person caught smuggling in explosives to blow up millennium parties were Not Spanish speakers nor was he coming in the southern border but from Canada.
Well when in rome do what romans do. You are in America and we speak English and when I visit mexico or south American I speak spanish because it is just plain good manners. To Americans its more than a language thing it wanting to become an English speaking citizen. It show's you took the time to want to become American. If not stay in Mexico or where they speak spanish in public most in this country do not. Believe it or not A lot of Us do speak spanish more than you know.
If you spoke ENGLISH instead,you would get a lot less looks. You should make It a priority to teach your children ENGLISH,and encourage them to speak ENGLISH in public. We as AMERICANS are hearing spanish conversations almost everywhere we go,and we are growing tired of It. You asked,and I gave you a straight answer. And yes, anytime you see anyone refusing to speak English when they are standing in the midst of Americans they would fall under suspicion.
And of course you can yell La Migra or Immigration whenever you see a group of people speaking in a foreign language, it's a pretty safe bet the ones that run might be illegal.
Oh, and I can tell if they are holding a rally or march and screaming how bad they hate America while they burn our flag; of course some of those are legal and are just backing the illegals. But I figure those types should be treated just like an illegal anyway.
If you are worried about what people think, why don't you teach your children Spanish at home ? I think being multi lingual is an asset but a lot of Americans want assimilation,personally, when I hear people speaking to their children in another language in public, I assume that the children can't speak English. I am always thinking "what a shame, that people don't care enough about their children to teach them English" because you will never get a leg up in this country without being able to speak English. As for people in general who choose to speak a language other than English in public...I am a very outgoing person, I like talking to everyone, when I hear people speaking a different language, I won't strike up a conversation with them for fear of being embarrassed to find out they don't speak English. The language barrier is one of the main things that is dividing this country, and one of the easiest things to repair with a little effort. Americans look down on Latin Americans the most because of the fact that their are over 152 languages spoken in this country however, when you go anywhere, it's press one for English, press two for Spanish.. Where is press 6 for German? Because most all other immigrants except maybe some elderly have learned the English language so they can assimilate. Why should Latin Americans get special treatment?

I live in Vegas so I would put the odds at 50- 50- that if you see 15 guys standing around a street corner at 10am on a Monday morning outside of a Home Depot store, at least half of them will be illegal.

I love my country and i respect it alot, as should you if you love this country to then respect it and respect the citizens that live here and have lived here forever, and were born here. I can tell the difference with illegals. My ex was illegal at the time, he's a u.s citizen now but still i can tell the difference his parents never spoke english and they never knew how to and i worked witha bunch of illegals so i can tell the difference and i go to school with them.
