Had they not been within the country illegally - none of this ever would have been possible to have taken place.
No matter about this particular case and the fact that a 'witness' appears several months after the fact and the fact that a wet street makes for problems when trying to determine actual speed at the time of accidents.
The real fact is that there are known illegals allowed to be living freely within the United States. Why hasn't ICE done anything about enforcement of the immigration laws?

an officer caused a death and a jury awarded the family of the deceased a lot of money. it doesn't matter where the guy comes from or if he is here legally or illegally.

I can see the jury awarding the medical and burial expenses, but not $2 million. One of the disadvantages of coming here illegally SHOULD BE you don't have the same rights as citizens.
