Green Card interview through Marriage to a citizen?

I have married to a US citizen and I have submit the From to adjust my status in March. I have been through the biological fingerprint in June and I got the letter for an interview on 3rd August. I just have 2 questions about the interview.

1. The title of the letter is "request for applicant to appear for INITIAL interview", does it mean there will be more than 1 interview for us? I will expect 1 interview as this is what people usually do .

2. if the interview go smoothly, what are they going to do?? like right after the interview are they going to stamp something on my passport or give me some letter? How long does it take for the green card delivered?

I think it'll be pretty straight forward as we have prepared all those documents needed and those sweet pictures we had before^^ We have also do research for the interview questions.
But those complicated process is just killing me...

Please kindly tell me if i miss anything important^^
Thanks for help

Answer:
Read carefully, this will help you.

1. have faith that everything will go smoothly. Beleive that you already have the GC, and even visualise it arriving in the mail. Do this everyday from today, until the interview. Dont waste your time thinking about the interview, or practicing, there's nothing to practice. Even at the interview just stay relaxed and dont even sweat it, and visualize the officer approving you. And u must truly beleive and feel like u already have it right now. And also, be thankful for having already received it(even if u dont have it yet). If your marriage is legit, then u are ok. be honest, answer questions freely, do not volunteer any info. Dont lie or submit any fake docs, it'll bite u in the back.
-initial interview just means if the interview doesn't go well, and they need more docs, they'll give u a second one.

2.the interview is really short and sweet, and there are no specific questions they ask. Generally they ask u things about your marriage life, finances and mainly things in the documents you submitted to verify u are telling the truth. They may ask several questions more than once. Bring all the documents on the checklist, and photos etc...

3. Usually if everything goes smoothly, at the end of the interview the officer will tell you that your case has been approved. They may or may not stamp your passport. But the GC will arrive in the mail 1-3 months after. Sometimes it even takes as little as two weeks, depending on the back log.

All the best bro
What happens is that you and the petitioner will have to appear for the interview. They will look over all your documents and ask you some questions...maybe a few, maybe alot depending on who is doing the interview...if all is well, they may approve your green card immediately which may mean you should get in within1 to 6 months. However, they may ask for additional documents from you and reschedule you for another interview.
In times past, they used to just stamp your passport and sometimes they still do...but most likely you will have to wait for your green card in the mail. hope this helps. good luck!
I have been through this. Both you and your wife need to be a tthe initial interview. They will ask you questions, want to see pictures of you guys on vacation, your wedding etc.. to prove you are married. The second interview is by yourself a few months later. You will not get your visa stamped right away.
It took a year before my husband was able to come to the USA but my situation was a bit different I had been living outside the country for a few years and could not proved i was capable of supporting him until I had been here and made enough money to prove it on the affidavit of support through my yearly tax report.
Don't sweat it. If the marriage is legit, there's just one very quick interview, you get temporary evidence of adjustment to resident status, and the card shows up in the mail.

But, if you're missing paperwork, there may be a second interview to present additional evidence. Otherwise, relax. It's simple. I used to do marriage interviews as an immigration officer and, usually, the process is over in less than 15 minutes. If you're in a small metropolitan area with a small district office, it'll be a very short wait for the interview to start. Huge offices like New York, Los Angeles, and Miami might be a different story. But in general, it's painless.
I married an American gal, we had one interview, bring lots of documents that prove you live together, bills, statements pictures, a letter from a church minister, even if you think you will not need it, bring it, especially if it has both your names on it!!
As far as the interview, they ask you lots of questions from a checklist, are you a terrorist, prostitute, drug dealer etc. My green card got approved right there, although I had to get a new copy of my medical exam, as mine some how got to the immigration official ripped, no biggie, got a new copy from the doc, mailed it, 2 months later had my card.
They also look at how long you have already been married, my wife and I lived in Canada for 2 years prior, so this helped a lot.

Good luck to you, if you have any questions feel free to email!!
I have a similar initial interview. I do not have my marriage photos as the Album was stolen but I do have digital pics. Should I take my laptop to show them the digital pictures. Else I would have to go to a store to print them but I need to get all the picture together and chose to print. I have been married 4 yrs 4 Month now. She was a GC holder and just received her citizenship in december. We waited to apply for me till she got her citizenship. I was on H1B before.
I already have my EAD. I hope to get the stamp on the day of the interview.

Please tell me if I can take my laptop. I don't print many pics.

Marriage is very legit but my wife is very lazy about finances, I handle all of it she does not cares to know anything as she trusts me, so should I prepare her on that. We have never lived in a separte roof since we got married. It say If I did not submit my affidavit I need to bring that again along with tax returns and all that.

Earlier she had a good job she quit since I got to make more money on EAD. Do we need to make a new affidavit. If anyone knows please tell. But she has already made more than required by the guideline this year itself.

Do I also need to bring my credit report. Do they ask for credit report.
